Well, the secret is really trivial and basic: Most dungeons (and i say most because some are exempt) give MORE EXPERIENCE on levels that have harder guys. Anotherwords, it is default behavior of a monster generator to generate a monster with hitpoints proportional to the 'levels difficulty'. As a re...

I think the xp tweak Zyx is trying to implement is to eliminate strategies such as mine (getting master levels in minutes), not to hinder the training of normal activities such as training in the sewers. As far as zyx's idea is concerned, it is smart, but just needs tweaking. I'm sure the goal was/i...

Sophia: Its really more along the line of experienced-player abuse. No new player is going to know that traversing down a long staircase and seeing a monster thats big on the other side of a door grants a 5 minute path to level 2 master wizard (From neophyte!). You essentially could get 4 characters...

Interesting, I had no troubles in Conflux IIIe in the beginning aside from one case: I got mophus very very early using my awesome strat of rushing to ALEX's super secret storage and running around collecting monk staves/shurikans, and what I stumbled upon was that Mophus (in the sewer) would fail 2...

Also I'd like to make a comment on Conflux III so far: It is my opinion that this is not a hair short of a masterpiece. The amount of work and effort done by so many people absolutely shines in this dungeon. Theres so much to it that just adds to the experience. One prime example is viewing items in...

Oh noes, start all over? Man!!! =] Heres a few more problems for you to look into (Potential spoilers): FURX is very powerful! Its fast and deals an absolute insane amount of damage to weak monsters. On the other hand, most of the monsters are so high in armor it doesnt even pay to use weapons as pu...

TRUTH spell. Could we get a little bit more info on this spell? The requirements to be able to cast it are huge (not to spoil it even though its somethinge veryone will find), but what is it for? I tried it and nothing seemed to happen. Now I'm not asking for spoilers here, i'm more along the line a...

Tsk tsk tsk Ian, that would ruin the fun! Anyway, fireball spell? whats that for? ^^ It gets a whole lot easier once poison bolt/poison cloud are unlocked.. oh wait, they arent locked! Poison cloud, if used correctly, is much more mana efficient than fireball. Poison bolt on the other hand (with its...

There are three hard parts I found. A) Lack of good food, for most of the dungeon i've been through, I've kept my food at critical red and just drank water. Its easy enough to MON potion every once in awhile, so this is easy to overcome. Besides, using ADGE to double-check the MON potion statistics ...

Don't forget the dragon spit, which probably had the intentions of shooting very very very powerful fireballs, yet ended up being a crappy item with no use at all! (more info in this old post ) Theres quite a few features hidden in DM/CSB that we uncovered with CSB4Win. You can always dig in the sou...

MMm, the vexirk in your current AlternateMonsterGraphics.zip package actually did work, my bad. I was running an old one (why? dunno) Anyway, very fancy! Heres a little 'update', figured you might want to use this for testing if you didn't have something like it already. http://www.uwm.edu/~pjgross/...

Alternate Monster Graphics: (questions are numbered for easy reference) You have provisions for 10 graphics inside the alternate monster graphic ([1]I'm considering calling them .AMG files soon, what u think?). Each graphic is in atari bitplane format. [2]How do you know the size of the graphics? [3...

Sounds like it would be easier to write an OS from scratch to me =]. If I were Chewbacca, I would think it would be easier to write a program that edits CSBWin dungeon.dat files (only the character information section) than to attempt to continue with the code from hell Paul Stevens has miraculously...

Damage numbers associated with actions are most definately, 100% positively, multiplied with that of the weapon's damage. If you have Swing being 16 damage, on a sword with base 10, you have essentially 160 base damage. Note, there are multitudes of other factors in the equation such as strength, fi...

*discussion begins* I need to understand the custom creature graphics a bit more, so I have simple questions: 1) If each CSBGraphics.dat file contains up to 3 different alternative graphics for monsters, does that mean (at most), 4 different graphics can appear for any one monster (since only 1 CSBG...

I will look into what needs to be done tonight and see what I can gather about what needs to be done and what can be done. These alternate monster graphics sound most intriguing (sp?). The good part is everything about the structures just so happens to perfectly match up with the data in the graphic...

*Peeks out of the cave* I know I'm on/off here in the DM Community, but I do read the forums from time to time with interest.
