Re: I'm a dad!

Woohoo! Congratulations Gambit! As a matter of fact, so am I, my wife had twins a little over 2 years ago - and a third baby screamer is on his way. They are still too young to play DM, but they already pretended to be Swamp Slimes, Screamers, Munchers, and Vexirks (with my wife's pullovers)...

What about this one: "I'm disinclined to acquiesce to your request. Means "no"."

Re: Forum Quote of the week

This put a huge smile on my face. My baby screamer was upgraded to Lord Chaos in only 23 months. Happily touching every wonder the world has to offer, in particular the computer of daddy, in particular the shiny brighty lighty glowing shutdown button. (don't expect any update of conflux soon). I cou...

More than one year late to the party, but I loved this! :D House was really great for the first 4 seasons or so, but the last years, not so much.

Of course the one with the five kids is Total Recall. ;)

Amazing. I don't think mine was golden, maybe the quality was lower for the German release. Unfortunately, I seem to have lost mine.

Re: Experience and level depth

In the original (and CSBWin and DSB), each level could be assigned an experience multiplier. In DM, it is true that the further down you went, the higher the multiplier got. I think it went from 1 (Hall of Champions) to 7 (Dragon level), so you would get 7 times as many experience points down there....

Re: What do you like/dislike about DM2 compared to original

@Huan: For CSBWin, I recommend Towers of Chaos. For RTC, I recommend Surgical Strike (requires a specific version of RTC, I think it's 0.37 or 0.38) or Sukumvit's Labyrinth. I'd like to point out Doom Blade as well, but since that is my creation, I can't objectively compare it to the works of others...

Re: Reincarnation vs. importation

The difficulty also depends on which engine you play. With original CSB, CSBWin or DSB, it shouldn't actually be all that hard since you gain levels like crazy at the very beginning due to the high experience multiplier in all of CSB. I think I gained something like 7 or 8 levels in the starting roo...

Re: Star Trek Dark

I agree with Sophia, too, she said far better what I was trying to express. The "Trek spirit" got lost on the way, and all the references just seemed like a loud shout of "See, we saw the old stuff and we can prove it!". It never felt like reminiscence or homage. It's not that I ...

Currently playing this. I will post my thoughts and comments as I play. Some may be useful to you, some are just nonsensical rambling. - The characters don't really seem balanced, people like Cierra or Saphire seem really weak. Star and especially Myst seem pretty good in contrast. Intentional? - Da...

The chastity serum is one of the malfunctioning magical items. It can be found behind an illusionary wall in the room with the gravity experiments, which is quite early in the beginning, maybe level 3 or 4 or so. Shameless plug: Sasha, if you are still interested, I worked on my old dungeon Doom Bla...

I finally watched this, too. So far, I have only seen the first two seasons, as the third one isn't out yet in Germany. Re: Star Trek Dark

I absolutely loved Benedict Cumberbatch in this. But the rest, well, it didn't really click with me. All the references to that old episode and that old movie seemed like a glorified fan fiction to me. I miss the "feel" of Star Trek, the humanitarian concept. I will concede that Karl Urban...

Re: Max level size

Yeah, Doom Blade is of the "spread out" variety, too. The outdoor scenario is pretty huge, so the different caves etc. are spread out all over the place. Take a look at the text file if you'd like to see what I mean. For your dungeon, I suggest teleporters, too. The player won't notice, an...

My Doom Blade dungeon uses 75 x 98 levels, and I can only confirm what Chaos_Shaman wrote: It's very painful editing levels of this size since you can't really see anything when pointing at targets of triggers.

Yes terkio, I've seen that; maybe I'll steal it. ;) After all, my RTC dungeon Doom Blade allowed you to create friendly monsters, carried around in Pokeballs. In DSB, I could actually catch them again if I don't need them anymore, as DSB's test dungeon shows. Hmm... the ideas are starting to flow.

Bit, that will be the secret alternative ending: Just die, and the world has been saved. :-P Actually, the first idea was to use heroes as enemies instead of the usual monsters, and maybe even have friendly monsters to summon or recruit as party members, but this is all too ambitious for me. I was o...

Possible new DSB dungeon builder

Having played the Unintended Heroism dungeon, I currently have a few ideas for a new dungeon and have looked a little closer at DSB. I needed about an hour or so of reading to create something I always wanted to do in RTC but was unable to - a potion that permanently raises a stat. Having the test d...

Re: [DSB] Unintended Heroism

No worries Sasha, I actually really liked the second half of Unintended Heroism as well. Only the part with the Panacea and Demonic Stone was really obscure to me, another hint to that one would certainly have helped. And great that we both had the same idea to use the Conan soundtrack for our dunge...
