Some time ago, I wrote a scriptable game engine for IF with a GUI interface based loosely on SPECIAL (FALLOUT) rules. I've since put in on hold because I wanted to make it linux compatible and need to write a portable GUI first (and even that is on the back burner...). If there is enough interest, I...

Interesting ideas :) You might want to look at this thread: http://www.dungeon-master.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=26535 It has a bunch of thoughts for possible ways of changing the inventories around. Though this thread has languished somewhat, I do want to say that I've not forgotten about it-- addi...

What I had in mind was some changes to the actual GUI that would expand it in unDMmy ways, such as adding a couple ring slots, inventory stacking of similar light items (a dagger should not take as much space as a breastplate), change one of the belt slots to a coin pouch and the other to a keyring....

DSB goals

What is the ultimate vision for DSB? Is it planned to match the original as closely as possible in look and feel? Or is there room for GUI changes/additions?

The biggest appeal of it is the "danger factor." You can walk into a room and bang... party wipe-out. Certainly keeps you on your toes. I also like the choice of characters. My party was Arnie, Clint, Indie and Tony. Though Arnie needs a special sword, Indie needs a whip and Clint needs a ...

Sure thing. Using latest version of RTC.
The infinite giggler invasion happens in the Free Nelson Mandela area on the same level as Pixie Purgatory, it's triggered by a pad under a fountain in the room with imprisoned knights.

It's an overall good idea, though the annoyance factor is pretty high, especially with the limitless-giggler invasion where you can get boxed in and hacking your way through is very tiresome. There is also at least one place where you can get stuck if you fall in from the wrong place. It's the room ...

Weird thing about this one... on some tiles, you get attacked by invisible things...and the character that got hit turns around to face... the wall? Is this supposed to be intentional? While working on my custom dungeon, I accidentally gave one of the monsters this kind of power: it could attack the...

Back when I was driving a Neon (about 10 years ago) it cost me $10.00 to fill up and it lasted me about a week.

Now in a Caravan, $10.00 doesn't even give me a quarter tank and fuel costs me about $80.00/ week.

I think my next car will have a turbo diesel engine.

Yes, but you rejected it so I'm trying to lend support for that idea.

If each item can have a custom sound, there could be another solution: for single items, play the custom sound and for multiple items, play something that sounds like many things falling.

Re: Small details

No, that's doable, too, but then, one lousy arrow makes the same amount of noise as a full suit of Deth armor. And if there are things that both thud and clank, it'll make more noise too! And what if a custom designer adds more "dropping" sounds... I'll admit this is all a very minor thin...

Re: Small details

When a monster dies, DSB queues up the sounds made by its dropping items rather than playing them all at the same time. With the amount of pieces of armor carried by DKs, that's a lot of clanks. ;) Playing all the sounds at the same time makes a rather ugly cacophony, and I'd really rather not do t...

Death of Deth Knights makes too much clanking (maybe this happens only under crushing portcullis).

Throwing ax at wall makes no noise.

Yes, a bit complicated, especially if I want 4 directional rotation (say on a pillar) and have multiple pillars. I also need a counter for each pillar to keep track of which direction is currently visible to activate the proper shooter.

I've reproduced the bug with a wall switch and sent you a copy.

BTW: if you also want to test the chest mess up bug, there is a chest on the same level where the test character enters, edit it, delete an item, click cancel and save (but it will ruin the saved file).

Yes, being able to put four levers on one wall will allow for an explosion of annoying combination lock puzzles. No thanks, I went through enough of those in Captive.
