Same problem here. In 0.48 when you make new adventure you also don't see the normal CSB 'intro' - it just starts immediately when you've added your chars and hit the 'enter dungeon' button. Interestingly when it starts in this weird mode, not only can my char can walk through those sparkly blue bar...

I know it's an old thread but I just thought I'd add: If a materialiser is stood with a wall directly behind it you can blast it using des ew whether it's solid or not... The des ew bolt will go straight through (if it's immaterial), but then it'll explode on the wall behind, usually killing the mat...
