I find the artwork, model designs, and animation that I've seen so far to be exceptional, and frankly superior to what is in many multi-million dollar titles.

Re: RTC Graphics content and names

Obviously we're dealing with my creaky old memory from three years ago, but it was my understanding that DSB did not support 256 color DM2 graphics. Otherwise, it would definitely be easier to finish these graphics sets with cooperation from the author of a currently developed project.

Thanks

Re: RTC Graphics content and names

Simply put, I know of no other way of to test or use a complete DM/CSB replacement graphics set, than with RTC. This requires that I identify a comprehensive and accurate list of the graphics names used in RTC, which I thought I had accomplished by snooping around in RAM, but somewhere along the way...

Re: Legend of Grimrock

Greetings, Is there a plan to release a level editor so that people can create custom dungeons? Alternatively, do you plan expansions/additional dungeons as DLC once the main game has been released? As far as an ice monster goes, I'll have to do some research into what has already been done, but fro...

Re: RTC Graphics content and names

(cough! cough!) I'm dusting off this project and taking another crack at the RTC graphics items list. I reinstated the old txt file that may be incomplete, but will hopefully be replacing it with an updated version if I can find omissions or errors.

Re-using graphics and content from a 20-year-old game without permission may be a crime in some jurisdictions, but it's a victimless crime. It harms nobody. Perhaps, but I think the point was that this was a guy that scolded others at the prospect of using graphics from a 20 year old game in non-pr...

Interplay's back! I'm sure they have their hands full with trying to get investors and develop some products based on the IPs they own, but they made a lot of good games so I expect they will succeed.

Since they published DMII, perhaps they'll take an interest in the DM property someday.

After seeing this trailer, regardless of the likelihood that it is an animation rather than a game engine demonstration, and regardless of whether the graphics are state of the art - if it were a real game, my friends and I would buy it in a second. I would even be willing to buy a game console just...

There you go... Piers Anthony's "Incarnations of Immortality" series would be great to see. "On a Pale Horse" has been knocked around for years as a potential film, but apparently never got out of development hell. The last discussion seems to indicate Disney had rights, then sol...

I'm familiar with the 1985 "Dungeon Master" film, but as I recall it is a horrible B-movie that (fortunately) has nothing to do with FTL's beloved Dungeon Master games.

Cheers!

Okay, maybe this is just a bit too obvious, but I would really like to see a "Dungeon Master" film. The Dungeons & Dragons films were very disappointing, and I can't think of any really well executed film that is just about a party exploring a dungeon.

Cheers!

However, here's the thing. There's nothing special about a "bitmap," really. It's just data, 1's and 0's. When it's in your main RAM, it can be manipulated by the CPU just like any other chunk of memory. The problem being-- none of this is possible if the graphics are locked away in VRAM ...

I was crazy to make CSBwin. George was a bit crazy to make RTC. Sophia was a bit crazy to make DSB. Et cetera. In that case, let me say that I'm very grateful that each of you were crazy enough to devote so much time and energy into your projects, and that you shared your creations that give all of...

Since you specifically mentioned DSB, I'll chime in... :) Well thank you. I definitely want to hear from someone who know's what it takes to make the dungeon come to life. Most of the general points Gambit made apply to DSB, certainly. The game's mechanics are 2D and a shift to 3D would create some...

where is the benefit of the 3D engine? Things like lighting effects, animation, bump mapping, fog, water, particle effects, transparency, and selectable resolution. I don't think we'll ever see a bitmap based DM game with 1600x1200 native resolution, but that would definitely be possible with a 3D ...

While this would be wonderful, I think it is highly unlikely since the gaming industry is currently infatuated with third perso...

It is unfortunate that sometimes the only solution many people have found to this kind of problem is to look for a nocd patch or patched executable. I found that some items were missing from my list, probably due to some overzealous macro that I used to clean it up. I've taken the list down and will re-post it once I've fixed the problem.
