Re: Worst Company in America

I always find it interesting that more people get worked up over companies that have annoying practices but not so much about companies that do things that are truly not nice (arguably to downright evil). EA, Microsoft, Apple...probably wouldn't make it anywhere a "worst" list...sometime a...

Re: Breaking Bad

It's one of those shows that there's probably no middle ground...people are either going to enjoy it alot or totally hate it. What made it really work for me is that I found all the characters plausible and it's the only show that I've enjoyed where I didn't like a single one of the many characters....

Re: Breaking Bad

I've been meaning to watch this series but have never gotten around to it. I'd guess if you like this one, you should maybe give "The Shield" a try.

It's a 7-zip file. Assuming it isn't corrupted, then you can get a decompressor here: http://www.7-zip.org/

I don't remember the guts of DMJ well enough, but it seems like the big hurdle is finding someone with working Java/Eclipse knowledge and enough free time to do it.

Re: Realistic androids

I think that "eyes" are easy. There just aren't that many "hints" that they the provide. Focus point and iris dilation. You've never met someone with a modern glass eye? Which is obviously missing 1 out of the 2? Maybe I'm slow, but it's usually taken me awhile to notice that som...

raixel: I read in English.

Jan: I've read LOTR 3 times as well. Each "reread" I convinced myself that I must be missing something. Hopefully I won't make that mistake again. :) To be fair, I found The Hobbit OK.

Re: Converting CSBWin graphicengine to a OpenGL 3D engine

Some minor comments. You might want to change some code formulation to be more runtime compiler friendly: if (color.r > X) color.r = X; if (color.g > X) color.g = X; if (color.b > X) color.b = X; color.rgb = min(color.rgb, X); Also, the shaders might run on a wider array of GPUs if you pull out the ...

Re: Converting CSBWin graphicengine to a OpenGL 3D engine

I missed that thread, I don't visualise that "circular motion". What is it? Basically keeping the camera some fixed distance backward from the center of the cell (the center is always ahead of the camera's position in a top-down view). So when rotation, the camera pans along the circle of...

Re: Converting CSBWin graphicengine to a OpenGL 3D engine

This is too cool. Food for thought: In another thread I suggested moving the camera in a circular motion when turning (rather than a simple pivot).

No you're not. From looking at the videos, I don't get the (seemingly) widespread appeal. It looks like it could be fun for a short period of time or to a niche market. That's why I was curious if anyone here had given it a go.

Re: The List: Best RPG

Like movies, books, etc. my list would vary day-by-day. Today I'd say the only computer game that's remotely felt like an RPG to me is TES-3. I'm not saying that this would top my list of games that are 'called' RPGs..that's a different animal. It just almost feels like a pen & paper game. Ask m...

Re: Kingdom of Loathing

I was doing that in a joking manner, but I was semi-serious. At first I thought I would hate a Sauceror run, but once you get the saucespheres up and the splash back effects kicking in..they are probably the best killing machines in the game.
