Don't underestimate Dain potions.

Sometimes the most powerful tactics aren't obvious.

Re: Using War Cry to give Halk or Stamm priest levels?

I have done it. I found that if I am toe-to-toe with a screamer, I can repeatedly war cry while it screams at me, and I can gain the first priest level before I even get any flasks. It takes twice as long to gain the second level. I also gain fighter levels at the same time.

Re: Leveling and stats

The code I looked at didn't have any mechanism of connecting the stats. For example, it didn't take 4 points and then randomize where to put them. Rather, it conceptually flipped a coin on each stat and if it came up heads it picked the greater of the two values. Just because you got a great roll on...

Re: Ultimate training.

Yeah, you lose Stamina, and if there isn't a pit to climb into you don't actually go down. However, don't let that fool you, the experience is there. It's a pretty useless hidden skill, but the general experience makes up for it. And if you're still raising Priest levels as well, the Ya potions aren...

Re: Ultimate training.

How much experience you get for casting a spell depends on five things: The level of the spell The power of the spell Whether the spell succeeds or fails The level of the dungeon How long it has been since you have been attacked. For the exact numbers, see the post here: http://www.dungeon-master.co...

Re: Do you ever map by hand?

I did the same as with every other dungeon crawler game that had static maps. I'd start out just running around in the dungeon. After a while I'd get stuck somewhere or I'd decide I didn't want to miss anything important and I'd start over making a hand map. After a few levels, I'd get impatient and...

Re: Dexterity/Wisdom/Vitality Potions

I vote for the Dain Wisdom potions as well. Ever since I ran the numbers last year, I keep all my characters' wisdom up in the 112 area as soon as they get over 39 max mana. I have to brew a lot of ya stamina potions because of the effects of the extra mana regen. But since I'm still building Pries...

Re: what's in your garden

I had a spider bite me once. I was putting on my muck boots to go out and milk the cow. I felt a stab in my toe, and yanked off the boot and dumped a spider out of it. It was a big gray hairy one, but didn't look poisonous. Poor spider was half smashed. I carried it out to the garden, hoping it woul...

Re: Easter.. who the hell invited the Rabbit?

The Easter bunny or rabbit comes from the hare, another ancient, pre-Christian symbol of fertility associated with spring. But it gets even more complicated than that. Anglo-Saxon mythology says Eostara changed her pet bird into a rabbit to entertain a group of children, and the rabbit laid brightl...

Re: Easter.. who the hell invited the Rabbit?

So how then does this have to do with Christians and Catholics etc? Well, the first council of Nicaea determined that rather than share the date of Passover as was done up to that point, they would move the date to remove their dependence on the Jewish calendar. Despite the fact it was written that...

Re: Easter.. who the hell invited the Rabbit?

Well, Cows, I'm with you on the rabbit thing. However, I agree with Trantor that Easter isn't supposed to be about the death of Christ, it's supposed to be about the resurrection. The guilt of sin is supposed to be swallowed up in the joy of the idea that if we repent and activate the power of the A...

So here's a theological question:

Lots of religions believe in an afterlife of some type or another. Do you believe in an afterlife, and if so, do you believe that our pets might be there with us?

If I end up in some sort of heaven, it would sure be cool to have my St. Bernard there with me!

Well, you realize that we're all going to die, right? And any time you get a pet, it'll probably die before you do, right? But that doesn't help, does it? Yeah, I've been there myself. Also, killing murder convicts is beside the point. Would that make any difference? Good point. I think killing convicts isn't the answer, but if we could figure out a way to reduce the number of new criminals, the totals would go down as the old ones die off of natural causes.
