Re: Best champions - an analytical approach

Nowadays, I tend to play with just one character and complete a lengthy training session in the Screamer room (around Expert in all 4 abilities). With only one character to feed, I find that the food scattered around the dungeon is more than enough so very rarely use the rat room.

Re: Ultimate weapon & armour combo (including special weapons)

Melee weapons - I'd say that the Diamond Edge is probably the best all round. The Hardcleave and Inquisitor are great because the Berserk attack can cause serious damage but it misses quite a lot of the time. I have never really used ranged weapons. It just seemed a bit pointless as you could only f...

Re: Ravenhood 3.20

I have tried my hand at this over the past few days. There are some really great graphics, monsters and items. I think that I have done quite well so far. I have found: Three magic orbs. From the witch, the druid tower and the sewers. I have put these in the alcoves in the building in the forest. I ...

Re: How to deal with Lord Chaos

I have a vague recollection of someone saying that they managed to trap him at the other side of the Ful Ya pit. Presumably this could occur due to his ability to teleport but I don't think he would have any logical reason to use it in CSB as Fuse is not available. Did I just make this up? Edit: I d...

Re: How to deal with Lord Chaos

He cannot be defeated as per DM as there is no Firestaff in CSB. You should avoid him by running past and if you need him to move out of the way, use War Cry or the Horn of Fear. Considering he's the "boss" monster, he can actually be scared.

Re: Solo runs with various champions

Am I reading correctly that those characters all start with 1 Maximum HP?! That sounds pretty hardcore.... --Jay Absolutely. They are known as the "Maleficent Guild" in Conflux. More info here: https://dmwiki.atomas.com/wiki/Conflux/Maleficient_Guild I don't think that DM would be too bad...

If you would like a real challenge, use an editor to replicate one of these characters:
https://dmwiki.atomas.com/wiki/Conflux/ ... ient_Guild

I have never tried DM or CSB with them, but I did (after what felt like an eternity) finish Conflux with them. I'd say it's doable...

Re: Solo runs with various champions

The first time I ever played was with Zed (and others, I didn't realise until a few years later that you didn't have to use 4 characters). It was the extra torch that swung it for me. It wasn't until the past few years when I realised that starting equipment really doesn't matter and decided to take...

Re: Opening Chests

Alternatively, in some versions, you can kill the dragon by falling on top of him through a pit on the level above. Presumably this is mechanical as the party and a monster cannot co-exist on the same tile.

Re: Opening Chests

Yes, the dragon is avoidable which is a shame because it is a suitably tough fight for so late in the game. Back in the day, I tried fighting him at the stairs; I would retreat upstairs if he was about to attack. This kind of worked but if I was too slow I would be killed. The step/dance thing works...

Re: Opening Chests

They actually freeze all creatures (except for Lord Chaos who is immune). The green ones last longer than the blue ones. You may find a ring called the Eye of Time later on that can cast Freeze Life several times. I rarely used them in DM, only really if I was surrounded and near death as it gave me...

Re: Solo runs with various champions

https://i.imgur.com/a7J0xu9.jpg I have just had a go at "No spellcasting" with a reincarnated Hissssa in CSBWin. Tactics usually involved isolating certain monsters and using the Vorpal Blade on non-materials. The worms were pretty tough then the Couatls even worse but after that, he was ...

Re: Best champions - an analytical approach

I have always maintained that Hissssa is the best champion. Of course, that's based on my personal opinion. Anyway, back in the day I used to save the game regularly when training then reload after the level went up for (possibly) better stats. You can roughly predict when a level is about to increa...

Re: Guide for usage of keys in CSB

Looks good to me.

Technically, either the Solid Key or Emerald Key can be spared. There is a fake pit that allows you to take a shortcut from the Ku corbum to the Ros corbum or vice-versa.

There is also a pit in Neta where Munchers are generated. If you drop through this pit, you end up in Dain.

Re: [RTC] Underworld Dreams 1.2

I can't quite remember how to do that bit. However, here is something to have a think about: If you skipped any areas/meditation points, go back and do them after you have got the lightning storm spell from the dragon area. That does the same thing irrespective of which power rune you use so you can...

Re: Which route do you start first ?

I tend to do the first part of each path first then go to the Demon Director area. Usually I'll do Neta, Ku, Ros then Dain. The Ros part of the DDD can be bypassed via a fake pit in the Ku area.

From memory, I think that there are several wall switches you have to press to get out of the nightmare. I think one of them is particularly well hidden.

Sorry I can't remember where the second Master Key is.

Re: Favourite and least favourite level?

My favourite was always level 8 (the arena). It took me ages to complete first time round when in reality, all you have to do is pick a key up from the floor and leave. Dodging the fireballs whilst running after Gigglers is always fun. My least favourite is level 5 (poisoned lair). It could have bee...

If I’m remembering it right, the snail concentrates on breaking the amber walls, l...

Re: Characters You Have Never Used

I've always thought that the CSB characters don't appear as interesting as the DM ones because they have no items to start with. In DM, you were often faced with a choice: Zed's torch, Leyla's rope, Wuuf's flask, Sonja's sword and so forth. I think that's what caused me to try out most of the charac...
