Re: Conflux III wiki discussion
So it is essential to choose "good" keys. The config file allows you to choose the keys you like best. And the config file is where you can find it! I know, I changed that once, I thougt of having reasonable defaults for "worldwide" usabilty without a need to change something fi...

Re: Conflux III wiki discussion
I don't understand the need for this change. It seems to me that this could all be handled by a simple wrapper script around CSBwin.exe. Which change exactly? What you suggest was essentially what I've been doing when I made "packages" for Linux. I don't understand the need for this chang...

Re: Conflux III wiki discussion
Well, I didn't want to complain or make you doing things differently, I'm just unhappy with the removal of functions which might still be useable without any change. Would it be a great effort to restore the "--gamsav" switch, for example? It should do exactly what it has done before: defi...

Re: Conflux III wiki discussion
Thank you very much! Sounds (almost) good so far; I tried replacing my binary with your 15.6v0 SDL 2.0 one: core functions work well, but: 1) No GTK menus and windowed mode (how do I switch this on?) 2) "--gamsav" has been removed, which is bad, because it prevents you from making somewhat...

Re: Conflux III wiki discussion
I hadn't found time for a long while, so almost forgot about Conflux… I've seen some recent changes in the Wiki, however, when I looked into it again a few days ago, so I think it should be backed up again. I also noticed that there is no recent Linux version available any more. I packed Conflux WIP...

Re: Conflux III wiki discussion
You, Beowuuf, are a much older Conflux player than any of us two. Would you consider to contribute to the Wiki? I fear that Phoenix and me are less than "compatible", so a third party would definitely enhance overall performance.

Re: Conflux III wiki discussion
Face it, the "group" currently probably consists only of us two. And I'm not "whining" at all, I just try to get feedback from "normal users" to help to resolve our conflicts. I know that we won't agree easily, so it's best to involve a third party to help in the upcomi...

Re: Conflux III wiki discussion
Hi, I'm currently unhappy with ongoing discussions about the Wiki, being especially unsure whether it is actually used, and what for, while discussions between Phoenix and me are taking place which I consider rather bad for the future progress, because that's all about opinions and not facts that ca...

Re: Conflux III discussion thread - potential spoilers
The orange text is more complicated than having just one exception. My Artisan Priest (and I think that worked already at least as a Craftsman) can see "ASHES", "RUST", "PHOSPHOFERRIC". I'm astonished that items can have more than one orange text, that it can change wit...

Re: Conflux III discussion thread - potential spoilers
I *know* that it is the Long Lost Wand, because I haven't got any other wand. Now I think it hasn't lost any properties; I just assumed that I should be able to identify it when I can read the "GLOWING STONE" orange text, which was already possible at "craftsman" level. Now my pr...

Re: Conflux wip003 Hint Oracle error
I didn't mention the reason why I think this "18" might be the solution; the code is unfortunately rather incomprehensible, but: The possible "cases" leading to the message you got are "6", "7", "9", and "default", that is any positive inte...

The Long Lost Wand
Can the Long Lost Wand lose its uniqueness and the orange description, or is this only visible at a higher priest level? I can identify Glowing Stones, Funereal, and Cursed items, for example, the Cursed requiring the most advanced level from the above.

New Linux version 12.3v1.1 of CSBwin
New version 12.3v1.1.
Works like the binary from 12.3v1, but has changed debug output, misleading ESD warnings removed, printf for function's result instead.

Re: Porting/updating CSBwin for Linux and sound support
It was obvoiusly too late yesterday night, I packed a binary compiled just before my last obviously erronneous testing change, so the source of 12.3v1 was broken, causing a wrong coulour palette to be used. I have removed this, and will have release d a new 12.3v1.1 with the non-working changes reve...

Re: Conflux wip003 Hint Oracle error
When I encountered this error this was due to the static number of possible Oracle entries:
In Hint.cpp:
#define MAXHINTINDICES 9
Perhaps you see a tenth entry there?

Re: Porting/updating CSBwin for Linux and sound support
Thank you for the patch, mik. I have compiled a new version with Pulseaudio and Overlays working: https://www.wuala.com/ChFr/www/CSBwin_Conflux/?key=csbwin However, native Pulse makes it unusably slow for me, the Pulse ESD compatibility module works. I also have disabled re-initialisation when using...

Re: Conflux III wiki discussion
While increasing the number, the places (hence where to put a new page) are more easily to find by level, at least for me. I sometimes fail to rmember how I opened up an area initially, which is most important for a proper placement. I also have no idea yet, what approach might be the best, and I'm ...

The dd dungeon is not accessible anymore, it's just a failed experiment (bad gameplay). Would you please consider to re-open it in WIP004? Re: Conflux III wiki discussion
Does this make sense? Sounds fairly reasonable, but I think we should not make a complicated multi-level re-ordering as of now and keep the level-based approach as it is for now. Let's see how many places pages we need first before we try to order them so that the player can find things. The Places...

Re: Linux version of CSBwin
Sorry, confused things, not 12.100, as mentioned in the other posts, I'm currently at 12.3 with overlays "stolen" from Pandora 11.059. This should NOT make any difference, though, because 12.100 and 12.3 don't differ Linux-wise. Download a working Linux version for i486 and up here: LINK U...

I'm not an archlinuxmaster, but also failed to get a native 64 bit version compiled. According to Paul this is due to the "de-facto Atari emulator" (simplified). I have, however, working source code, build-, installation-, and run-scripts for i386, unfortunately requiring Esound. My curren...

Re: Porting/updating CSBwin for Linux and sound support
I thought a better option should be developed, so here is a patch for CSBwin to support playing sound via PulseAudio which seems to be the default sound playing system in the modern Linux distributions. The patch was made for CSBwin version 12.100 ( http://dmweb.free.fr/files/Clone-CSBwin-SourceCod...

I used to do software QA for a living. So did I, so I know how that works, but… When I make a wiki entry, I try to make sure I follow the QA protocols I've learned in the software industry. This is a game, and designed to have fun with rather than systematically analyse it, so I do tests out of cur...
