Re: [DIFF] Quiver behaviour

iGame3D: Of course I trained my characters with throwing items. But as I wrote - as soon as my characters grown a bit, I found throwing and collecting projectiles to be very time consuming and doing just slight damage. Some years ago I tried to be familiar how effective different actions are, how mu...

Re: [DIFF] Quiver behaviour

OK, I never found any missile weapons worth using. Caused damage was usually too small compared to the time needed to look for, collect and put in the quiver/inventory thrown missiles. My favourite "configuration" was melee weapon plus flask in the hands of front characters and flask + ite...

[DIFF] Quiver behaviour

In DM, I was able to put small and large-sized weapons in the first quiver slot and just small weapons to other three quiver slots. When ready hand threw an weapon, the first available weapon in quiver jumped in the ready hand. Let's say arrow is in ready hand and quiver looks like this: club rock d...

OK, I tried it and because I hate registering on every site I would like to post comment on, I will write it here. First I must say Dungeon Maker is game I always wanted. Dungeon Master based with traditional square movement, but with new, 3D graphics with free look, real shadow, real light sources ...

CSB challenge

After many hours spent with CSB I tried to play a hardcore game. 1. Reincarnate one the weakest character in the game (I used Tula Princess Of Uxmal) making the only champion in your group. 2. Do not use any spell-casting equipment (RA sword, Flammit, magic boxes), you can use FUL and VEN bombs 3. F...

[Done for V0.42] Disabled soundcard problem

Because of hardware reasons, I have disabled my soundcard on my PC. When i try to start RTC 0.41, I am getting messagebox with "Failed to initialize FMod (052)". Is it posible to use RTC without sound? I know it may sound weird, but I would like run in even without sounds. Thanks.

Yes, this is end of the NETA path. Just cast anti-fire spell, prepare your mouse pointer to the place where alcove usually is then move by keyboard and get the corbum with mouse. You could make it!

Last time I finished CSB on PocketPC and looked for walkthrough for one simple reason. I never knew how to open a pit blocking upper ROS path (although I finished CSB multiple times, even with single character). If anyone wonder how could I finish the game without getting into upper ROS path, I get ...

I voted for Something between and I have a pretty good idea how it should look. For lucidity, I preffer traditional square movement for both player and monsters. But for eyecandy I preffer rendered 3D graphics, which allows fantastic situations, like room far ahead litted with torch, but the corrido...

I guess this should not be possible - or is there any use in allowing such a trigger? Sounds like a possibility to crash the game engine pretty quickly, for example by greatly enhancing the monster, timer or object database beyond it's limits. Bugs found in editor

I am impressed with the editor, but up to now I foung several bugs. First and most important is already mentioned here - it does not saves file, actually it truncates file to the zero length. Second bug is - I have a trigger having as target itself (it's partly my foult, I clicked the wrong tile). W...

Dungeon Master uses linked lists to implement a potentially infinite number of items in each cell of the dungeon. It works very well. You need to be a programmer to understand this. I completelly agree with that. Using fixed fields like a[10,10,10] is way to hell. Use at least some STL elements lik...

I had a similar problem running Win2K. In my case, I can load RTC from double-clicking the .exe file in the folder, but not from the shortcut on the start menu. I cannot explain why launching via the shortcut would be any different. I meant to try to debug it, but there is way too much to do these ...

I would suggest to define a special sound object: SOUND_OBJ_1 X=10, Y=8 SOUND_FILE=DRUMS RANGE=15 BASE_VOLUME=16 OPTIONS(THROUGHWALLS=FALSE) So if you are in a position in the range (approx ABS(10 - PartyX) < 15 a ABS(8 - PartyY) < 15, may be enhanced as circle and not square, you will hear sound DR...

I will repeat myself. but wouldn't be better and easier to use an existing multi-platform framework like libSDL (I mentioned it above) so you'll avoid creating your own APIs and you could use the all the power of the framework (3D support, HW alpha etc.)

Yes, RTC is tied to DirectX, but I think not so deep , I assume in creating screens, bltbits and maybe reading BMP files. All of this (maybe except reading BMPs, I am not sure here) could be done with for example SDL library http://www.libsdl.org/index.php . I was using SDL for simple operations and...

Very interesting comments from Tom, but I have a question: do you think it is smart to bind RTC with DirectX? It would mean RTC could be never ported to other OSes, like Linux. I suggest to use OpenGL or some multiplatform library than MS-proprietary DirectX. But I agree that using video card accele...
