Re: Users'/players' custom portraits

I perfectly understand and respect that.

It was meant to be a summary of the different aspects of the situation. I did not mean to criticize or question what you did.

Re: Users'/players' custom portraits

What's simple to you can look complex to others. Please don't preface your help with phrases like that: it can make people feel stupid if they don't find it 'simple'. http://css-tricks.com/words-avoid-educational-writing/ Thanks for reminding us and directing our attention to these conversational p...

Re: What do you like/dislike about DM2 compared to original

I've played the game like seven or eight times during the last two years (always losing interest when entering the strange dimension because I never wanted the game to end :D). There should be lots of savegames on my PC and laptop, if you think you might need them I'll send them to you. Can't really...

Re: Users'/players' custom portraits

the power pink does get to you eventually. i see green after a while and have to stop looking at it, or i remove it and put it back when done. True that. A nasty shade of barbie-ish pink burning your eyes from their sockets. Is it possible to have two versions of these portraits in the game, one se...

Re: What do you like/dislike about DM2 compared to original

That's what I was trying to say. :D Forming sentences in a language other than your native language sometimes is like attempting to create realistic pictures with fuse beads while at the same time being almost totally colorblind. I think you said that you'd use the information gathered here to impro...

Re: Users'/players' custom portraits

I've had that happen to images too, I think that's because the art programs by default automatically "help" you by doing anti-aliasing, which, when you need exact colours, such as the powder pink mask used in RTC, that can be very annoying when you get a pink halo around your painstakingl...

Re: Users'/players' custom portraits

Wow! Some look familiar (Talon ;)), others I've never seen before. Great work! Did you draw them in paint? Never thought about changing the original colors ... I'll add some redrawn versions of the originals created using the CSB Portrait Editor. During resizing these, Paint changed the colors somew...

Re: Users'/players' custom portraits

there are a few threads sscattered about with people's custom work, but I don't think we've ever dedicated one specific thread of the forum to it. I think it would be sad if it disappeared in the depths of the internet. The more threads and topics there are in one subforum the more difficult it get...

Re: What do you like/dislike about DM2 compared to original

This may be considered an almost heretical statement, but I admit I like Dungeon Master 2 as much as Dungeon Master 1, if not more. I still think that due to the designers' and producers' decision to change some of the (even basic) elements and to keep only the main concept of the game, these two ga...

Users'/players' custom portraits

Not sure whether this is the right place for it, but since I couldn't find a thread about this here via search function (might not have searched thoroughly enough, though) ...: Is there a special thread or even a site where users can up- and download any custom made portraits? I've created some myse...

maybe i should have had the guy in blue skewered on his teeth stuck staring into the demented eyes to die slowly over a few days of blood letting slowly until searing painful infection reaches his hearts last beat. That's a pretty nasty way to make someone kick the bucket, yet sadly realistic consi...

Re: The Tree Gorgon

I think the originals would fit even in the redone background, but they should need some color enhancement for best effect. Now that would be an interesting project ... tasty Given the expression on its "face" i have a feeling this particular creature is not even capable of strategically ...

not as scary and more deranged. I didn't want to put it so bluntly, but yes. To me it looks like it has been hit in the head with a monkey wrench one too many times. The same impression may have crossed the designers' minds, so they probably decided not to replace the original treant with its redon...

Re: The Tree Gorgon

http://dmweb.free.fr/files/DMII-Scan-Review-PCGamer-Vol.2No.9-Aug-95-Page66.jpg Frankly speaking, this creature looks like the somewhat mentally challenged offspring of a glop and what you'd call a Treant. I can see why they wouldn't use it in the final version. The idea to replace the braches with...

Re: Doom Blade - Hint Book

Maybe someone created it, but it fell to oblivion before it was used? There is an inscription on the wall in the corridor (last level of the crypt, next to the tomb of the first clan leader) with the many levers saying "Look out for the thief". Thought you were perhaps referring to the gig...

Re: Doom Blade - Hint Book

Eheh. Thanks for the hint regarding the family heirlooms. It took me a while to figure out that they were in fact the keys to open the door to the next level and had to be put in the alcove. Wow. Don't know whether that part was intended to be that tough or if I just failed to notice any secret pass...

Re: What do you like/dislike about DM2 compared to original

We did with a modified DM2 engine what Paul Stevens did with CSBWin: fortunately it is not too difficult to allow 3 times more mechanism items within a dungeon file. (I can go into details if you want). That permits some expansions over the original dungeon. I do. But there is still work to do. Sou...

Re: What do you like/dislike about DM2 compared to original

I believe the biggest problem of DM2 was the fact they didn't expand enough the dungeon file format so that they quickly get out of room for building more interesting mechanims, traps and/or maps within the game. My feeling is rather that they left many ideas they had and the final DM2 is cut off f...

Re: Doom Blade - Hint Book

Thanks a lot! I didn't notice the tiny pressure plates . I'm now in the crypt and stuck in the second level of the dungeon. I've found the tombs of Tula and Itza, and there was an alcove containing some bones where Aram's Blade fired off a lightning bolt . The chronicles and the spell to lift the cu...

As far as I know it's a magic marker which can be created using the ya ew spell. Might serve as a substitute for the footprints (= leaving a trail of magic 'breadcrumbs') or any item that you need to put on pressure plates etc. So unless there's a very special hidden use to it, it's just some sort o...

Re: What do you like/dislike about DM2 compared to original

I think whether you prefer playing DM1 or DM2 is a matter of nostalgia and what you came to expect from a certain game, thus what you'd expect from a possible sequel. Liked ... - ... the game's music, especially in the battering ram area. You could tune it down or turn it off completely if you had a...

Hello all, just created an account to ask a question regarding the Tower of Fastilus ... I must be blind as a bat: So far I've solved the teleporter riddle, slayed the demon and found both keys of b. I'm using the Marauder's Map to find any places I haven't been yet, but unfortunately I can't seem t...
