Re: Game boxes in 3D

Kind of neat, Though perhaps it could be a bit larger.. the tiny window feels a little limiting to my old eyes :D

Can you imagine the app allowing you to unbox it as well.. I remember sitting there when my friend opened his box of Chaos stikes back and he had the gor coin.. so cool.

Re: Custom dungeons overhaul

Late to the party, but just wanted to add my thank you as well. A lot of work there!

I don't have anything that I could fill any gaps with. Despite not having played most of the list, much of what I had was lost to dead drives and no backups. A lot of my old artwork is gone too.

Re: INN OF LOST SOULS: general chit-chat thread

"Back" is a big word ! :D I'm free to roam during the holidays. I'll likely slink back into the shadows while teaching, and come back in summer. I did have a DM related project I discussed with Gambit a while back on FB.. I haven't started it for real yet. I did a few small parts of the wo...

Re: INN OF LOST SOULS: general chit-chat thread

Ahh, work is important. I still love my job for the most part. All of the students are usually quite nice and have interesting ideas. A little sad for those who choose to not really put 100%.. sometimes not even 50%. It's a lot of money for an education in Canada.. so I worry when they don't go for ...

Re: Gg never came back, did he?

Just to clarify, those who have been generous enough to do so of their own accord. Huge respect and appreciation.. but it should be respected for what it is.. an action above and beyond. There is a little story I like to tell about humanity.. if you see a homeless person on the road, and on a monday...

Re: Gg never came back, did he?

It wasn't just that it was his baby. There was proprietary code he used in a different project that he didn't have the rights to share. It was his code, as in he made it, but he no longer owned the rights to share it. This meant that legally he wasn't able to share the code without having to re-writ...

Few more days until another new year. I hope all are well and that this year has fared well for you. Less covid related deaths was a nice upgrade for sure. Though it's not quite gone, we have been able to go back to something close to normal in some countries. My daughter, now 12, is taking full adv...

Re: Cost of Living crisis UK: You may be entitled to support

we get limited info this way regarding the situation in UK.. but what little we do has made it sound pretty horrid. There is a lot of sarcasm and tongue in cheek in the delivery but it's clear that it's rough. Over here in BC we are noticing that post covid side effects has turned us from having som...

I tend to forget for extended periods of time.. then log back in and respond when I remember. Though occasionally, when I make the effort to remember, I check in once a day at least.. if I know there might be some kind of response or comment. (and I have the time to do so.. which is usually between ...

AlanDale! yeah I started using unity a few years back and Old World was all in Unity so I've done a shipped game in it. However, Unreal is my favorite. It's what I teach the students these days and have been doing so for the past several years as part of their training. Feel free to drop me an email...

I feel like it will soon be the time for Linux to get that friendly facelift. Just like Blender got its own more "humanized" interface. Allowing for a much more natural interaction and something those accustomed to Maya, and 3Dsmax could adapt to. Linux is in that free zone but you're righ...

Re: Help with buying a new laptop

There is some software that is Mac only, others that either are not available to Mac, or are very delayed in features and patches. Primarily for 3D work, the majority of the software is PC based with some having a mac alternative (but slightly behind in updates). For film editing however, as well as...

I see, I guess it's the older macbook they were using then. They needed something that could run all the 3D apps and such. Then take advantage of some of the drawing and video editing tools of the mac. Oh well..

Re: Help with buying a new laptop

yeah, the Macbooks are capable of running windows as well (dual boot) and seem to be pretty good at it. If you have a copy of an older (not win11) they usually install fine and would give you access to windows only software. This is what co-workers who need to use both have done. The only real downs...

You might consider used machines. There are a number of people who just want to be at the top of the top all the time. Some people get machines and sell them right away too because they just got them to review them. There is also things like redflag deals, not sure if it deals in UK content but last...

I had to upgrade to work for Mohawk Games.. my CPU at that point was over 10 years old and the GPU was about 5 or so years old. Some of you already know that the Dev tools are often slower than the game will run on it's own so I needed the extra beef to make it go. :) I figured it a good chance to g...

Thought this was super cool and figured some of you must have a few floppies hanging around in a box somewhere. I wish this had come sooner, ie when I still had all of my old disks with art music from the days of Amiga. I think I gave up keeping them about 8 years ago. :( https://www.youtube.com/wat...
