How great you participated in "You Are the Hero" book ! I hope there will be a french translation soon. I have the same feel about gamebooks : stories and illustrations are what you keep in mind afterall. Sometimes I read some old FF or GD book in my sofa but never play the rules. I'm still writing ...

The sapphire is in Sapphire path and armoury is in Ruby path, so there's no relation at all. In the armoury, there's no trigger that close that wall after you've opened it (if i remember well). it's been written at XP era... but worked on some Vista and 7 boxes... depends on your graphics card
