Hi all, Beowuuf: Your'e right. The way to do it is to use the networking stuff from the beginning. Even on the same machine you do not directly use keyboard and mouse actions, but instead use a separated client which collects this information and exchanges it with the game master (server) via networ...

hmmm... llots of people would lost any enthusiasm after reading that kind of post. :( I HOPE NOT ! The thing is only that starting and finishing such a project needs a looong breath. I think everyone who finished a longer project would agree with it. So I think anybody with the will to do t...

Hi, it looks to me that you're not very experienced in planning and doing a bigger project, so I think it's better to clear up some facts, before. To avoid any misunderstanding: This is intended to be a friendly advice (I found out that's not so easy to find the right words reflecting the real inten...

Hi there, did I understand it right that you want to create a new game, based (partly)on DMII, using the original graphics and adding new ones required for multiplayer support? Is the multiplayer part intended for use inside a LAN or over Internet? (This makes a difference in cheat protection). &quo...

Maybe it helps if you put something like this in the header of the front page (if it is not already there..) <META content= dungeon, master, dungeon master, dungeon-master, forum, dungeon master forum name=keywords> Found this style META tag in our corporate web-site. I think it helps the web spiders ...

Re: DM3D

Dear Steve, as we in germany say "The tone makes the music... :D (wordly translated, but mabe you get it)" And this new tone sounds much better than your first attempts...Seems you are able to learn at least.. 8) Last but not least a small hint: If you are looking for development help, you...

I hope no one minds me splitting the thread, although it will still be referenced in the original beowuuf: Excuse me, but what we did in the past make us to what we are now.. In this sense I would find that at least the information about sbovis' past in this forum is quite useful for someone who ma...

While it would be nice to clear the air and know the resolution of the issue, I personally would prefer to see this clone thread kept free of discussions not directly related to it, and not rehashing past issues unless it is a problem for either of the two directly involved (steve bovis and madmunk...

After thinking about it for a while I come to the conclusion that there are two types of "experience", which give you a feeling about a game, movie or whatsoever. The first one is the one depending on lifetime experience. These are games (or movies) impressing you with something you've nev...

Yeah, good old days (we sound like very old guys, don't we ?).. I am wondering if this feeling about a game can only be achieved when you're young, because after that I never had this kind of experience..(maybe DOOM 1 had comparable atmosphere, but not that gameplay)..

I am quite not sure (so maybe I 'll proof that), but I think the missing hand was the stage after that bleeding one, where you were no more able to use that hand until you healed it with a VI Potion.. mmmhh...trying hardly to remember....but I could swear I had that case when I played the ga...

I never found a game with comparable atmosphere... I remember me nearly throwing my mouse away when I first stood in front of a scorpion after walking around an edge :D . It caused me running away most of the dungeon... But after keeping breath I came back.. . BTW I saw some message...

Modern: More freedom in Level Design and maybe new fighting possibillities. The modern way is surely more complicated, especially in Monster AI and keeping the game...
