I asked this a while ago...

..and got a fairly good answer... I have one still in progress - i have to populate one level with puzzles (so could take no time, or ages), and create another (from a rough idea), plus flesh out the mechanics of a third So, if no one minds a play -tested only alpha version, then hopefully by the en...

nothing but questions in my head, no tips/answers

I know i'm spending my free time dungeon building, so that's kept me busy.
2 or possibly three levels still to go....then final tweaking when i know if i have spare monsters and pads, then the whole fun of testing and playtesting

glitches

Yep, if you want to get rid of it, best place to look is at any pressure pads used as switches, etc (hidden away) - they always start at default graphic 3, which lots of levels don't seem to have (level 2 i know doesn't, as i had a whole section mess up i did, then changed the tile and all was right)

I have had no crash problems with Grave, though i have only played it through once
If it could be your version of dm, then i can't remember where i got mine, but i can make it downloadable if that will help?

Objects and monsters limit in DM/DMute

Has anyone in their dungeon building actually found out the maximum number of objexts/pads/alcoves/monsters allowable?

I used to only delete a dungeon level ahead of myself to keep a reign on my building, but have now 'blanked' all unused levels, so am losing track (not good).

Kid dungeon

Just took a quick play through of it - it's quite a cool way of getting someone used to DM, and training up. I don't remember there being any flasks though - a room with spells to practise, then a room full of gigglers that you have to use them on, might have been cool! And the purple dragon does in...

Hey Toni - dungeon stuff

I feel guilty about mentioning any dungeon stuff now that I know Isamu hasn't played Milias..oh well... I think it is the effect of DMute..I had an idea for letting the levels be simple, and get harder (so someone who hadn't played DM in a while would have a chance), but it is too easy to be arbitra...

Chaos's grab dungeon

Wow, there are quite a few kicking around. I haven't got Chaos's Grab dungeon, or Ian's first test dungeon (hint hint), and my own one is DM Alternate (what happened if Theron failed in the first DM game), and will be ready when a) i get the hang of more hex and sort out the levels I have/want , b) ...

Games and alcoves

I suddenly had a creative spurt in dungeon building, but no doubt when I have tried the millionth hex code variation on a trap and still not got it to work, I'll get round to play it so I can kill something! Oh, and I have just managed to get a cool idea for gaining the firestaff + that doesn't invo...

Spoilers for Isamu

I think Milias and Return are getting confused here..I played both back to back too in a short space of time, which doesn't help! Anyway, in milias the almost end has you in the dragon level with THREE dragons, the weakest with the square key...I still had woosie characters at the time, so it was qu...

Return to Chaos

Actually Toni, you are right about the worms, I could have hung around and kept generating them, but I prefered to press on. Plus, it was the combination of this and lack of water too...if I could have figure out the 'infinite rooms' bit, that wouldn't have been a problem. You should keep it as is, ...

Moving levels and milias

Yup, moving levels sucks...I keep having to move my guy to a stairwell, then saving in dmute, then walking downstairs, then saving in dm....you can always add teleporters around a level then delete them after moving, i suppose..but always seems like more effort than it's worth the last two levels ar...

Games

I liked Milias better, though having not played CBS (i was one deleted order from playing it in my amiga days!) I didn't know about the puzzles Return... seemed fine, except that the food/water placement kept me in the red the whole game (not fun). It's small though, so you have probably most of it....

King Millias

Yeah, I played this one through, it's got a really good feel, and I liked the gas/fireball two rooms puzzle you mentioned. The clue to the room you are on is in the fact that mummies keep regenerating... I liked the fact that you can 'cheat' with the teleporter on the first level and go right to nea...

check earlier posts

I'm sure Zyx did a more comprehensive explaination of how to create object triggering pads in an earlier thread...try a search for it... Does anyone know how stop monsters from dropping their normal objects (dragons steaks, etc) I'd like to try a cursed armour doorway, but obviously i'd like only on...

Fury and Bolt Blade

This was the first puzzle i was stuck on editing when I found this site! Anyway, both these items trigger with the same code above in + and - forms, as with torches, etc. from what I have found. Oh, and has anyone noticed that if you use Dmute to re-edit a wall object normally, you lose the hex code...

Saving

Thanks Chaos, I'll keep that in mind. I guess the differences between my changed game and used game are small at the moment, and so I've gotten away with it. I have had situations where the loading screen has hung and crashed DM,but I always put that down to a bad edit of the dungeon. In reply to DO...

DM and windows

Since I'm editing a saved game, I too play test my dungeon, and have DM running in the background while editing (or vice versa) using alt-tab. I never seem to have your saved game prob though - i can easily save my dmgame while running dmute, or save the newer game, which will run normally the next ...

Has anyone made a bouncing switch?

I am getting too tired to start messing with hex code just now, and wondered if anyone had managed to get a switch that when pressed will graphically reset after use? Or one better, will activate and deactivate something when it bounced (atm I have switches that temporarily flick a teleporter on the...

Freaky alcoves

I am modifying a saved game for my dungeon, and have the problem that all wall alcoves on level 1 (introduction) are now wall text with gibberish, and of course non-functional (except for the original falchion switched alcove that i kept around). Is there any way to remedy this? Hey Chaos, so far, I...

And great idea for how to reintroduce Chaos, etc. I must have downloaded it the first day or so after you created it (how's that for timing), but must admit that as I'm trying to create my own dungeon (like anyone who has found DMute, I'd guess : ) after playing it through once I started checking ou...

My wishlist for DMUte, apart from all the points that have been mentioned (especially the memory handling/screen update - my comput...
