Oh well, I guess the DM clone is then to be dead. Which I suppose means I'm no longer needed for the GFX. It's nice to have a clone out there I guess.

Culture can infact negate ones ability copyright an item. The only way around it is to create your own 'version' of it. Something to make it distinct. Otherwise someone would have gone out and placed copyright on the english alphabet or language, etc.. or hey why not copyright the Torah or the Bible...

there is a DMUTE dungeon made to seem as close to CSB as possible and there is the ST and Amiga versions of the real thing here on this board. DM was ported to the PC very late and so when it came time for CSB to be ported it wasn't practical since there were things like Doom and heretic to compete ...

I get the same thing it asks for the save game disk but it saves anyway.. so don't worry.
Try resuming at the load up and you'll see.
also an easy way to tell is to look for the dmsave.dat in the DM dir.

DM, DM2, and CSB are all dos games and run best from pure dos. there may be a conflict simply due to windows interfering..

There is a character editor for DM2. I've found it on the web a few times and used it as well. It was planned to do much more but never came to be. You can change all the stats and names with it but that's really all I think.

Do a search and I'm sure you will find it. it's called DM2EDIT.ZIP

You often can not get DM2 to pla sounds with anthing other than a true soundblaster or soundblaster pro. It seems also that any plug and play soundscards will be ignored all together. The one detail about "pure dos" on win98 is it is not pure dos or even pure MSdos it has some windows set ...

in NT you can choose to boot in dos or windows. so no you're not out of luck for that. Not sure about 2k though..

well. For GFX I may be interested. I have done lores low color GFX before. Is it 8 colors or 16? anyway, are you planning to release it as a downloadable rom or as a cartridge? I'm guessing from your attitude about downloading roms and emulators it would be the former.
