Re: Dungeon Dwellers

@Ameena: Yeah, that was my idea. Having an enormous vending machine as a dungeon heart :) The four imp generation is already implemented in my current version. Instead of mana I input dirt into the Dungeon Heart, At first 4 dirt are needed to generate an imp, then 6 dirt, then 10 dirt and so on. I w...

Re: Dungeon Dwellers

Haha, thats a really cool idea, instead of bribing I could just feed some fat blob with specific items and eventually he will spit out a creature corresponding to the items I feed him with.. This is a perfect and idea for my game, it is simple to do and it is straightforward, do you mind if I steal ...

Re: Dungeon Dwellers

@bit: Oil may be a little to futuristic for this game :) @zoom: I like the way you think about wood "just beeing there" as it is a very valuble resource, but as I even collect dirt and rocks I should collect wood too. I think I am going to go with the previous idea and having some undergro...

Re: Dungeon Dwellers

I have thought about the tree roots coming from the surface, but I am not sure about the design of them in the game.. But I liked the fungus thingy :) It would be a nice change to harvest plants instead of just rocks.. And it would give the dungeon a more "alive" look. And I was also think...

Re: Dungeon Dwellers

@Bit: Digging out bones, thats a really good idea :) But I would still have to keep the gold.. My idea is that the gold and coal can be melted down, and then taken to the ironmelter to make coins. These coins can later on be used to bribing some of the more feeble minded creatures ;) But I am lookin...

Re: Dungeon Dwellers

Yeah, I know the DK games reasonably well ;). Hehe, I remember that we had a little discussion about implementing DK creatures AI back when I was making DMT 2, and as I recall you did know much about DK :) I had a friend over today, Fabian, he is the creator of Lootfest http://www.youtube.com/watch...

Re: Dungeon Dwellers

@Ameena: Well I will give you that, the names are simular, but I will change them later on as it is in pre-alpha state right now. In DK the only resource that the imps digs out and store is gold. Anyway, in the end it it will remind of DK but the gameplay will be with a lot more depth :) @terkio: A ...

Re: Dungeon Dwellers

Thanks Ameena :) I don't think there will be any problems. Sure, the basic gameplay such as the digging and building rooms will be simular to DK, but other than that the game will be diffrent. I think the gameplay in Dungeon Keeper is a genre by itself, so it would be like sueing the developers of D...

Re: Dungeon Dwellers

Its great to be back :) @Gambit: I am glad you liked the imps, they are my soul characters in the game :) I have been checking Kickstarter out and it would be a great start for me, not only because it can help me financially but also because I have heard that the projects there gets alot of media at...

Dwelvers (former Dungeon Dwellers)

Hello, hope you all are well :) Just wanted to drop by and tell you all that I am working on a new game, but this time it ain't a Dungeon Master clone :P Instead my interest have been directed towards making a scramble ship game out of Settlers and Dungeon Keeper, which also are among my favorite ga...

Re: CSBWin3D extra features

I am using managed c++ and its forms, I have come to like c# more and more when it comes to creating programs. But since I don't want to mix c# and c++ I went for c++. I must say that I am alittle bit suppriced that the c++ form editor are as advanced as c# editor. Works really nicely, even if I hav...

Re: CSBWin3D extra features

I will try not to make any brainmelting editor :) I have often thought of the RTC editor to be a perfect editor for Dungeon Master, if one had played Dungoen Master before there was almost no learning curve. If I wanted to put some item on the floor somewhere it was just to rightclick at that tile a...

I don't have access to the program right now, but I will check it out and reply as soon as posible..
Probably it has something to do with the CSBuild version the dungeon are created in.
I just found out that I'm not using the newest CSBWin version out there :?

Re: CSBWin3D extra features

@Gambit: I can do almost everything with my editor, but map must originaly be made in CSBuild or simular. It is hard to draw a line here, the easiest thing would be to say that I can do everything with CSBWin3D.. Because I can always do some walkarounds.. I can change the monsters hp, strength, item...

Re: Converting CSBWin graphicengine to a OpenGL 3D engine

Hmm, found something interesting here.. The CSB src Clone-CSBwin-SourceCode-11_014.zip at http://dmweb.free.fr/?q=node/851 also generates the same problem.. Seems like the CSBWin11_014 has updated the savegame and didn't let the utility tool in on it.. CSBWin11_014: CSBGame.dat have a size on around...

Re: Converting CSBWin graphicengine to a OpenGL 3D engine

Something else I am worried about when checking the CREATE functions the savegame filenames are saved into the FILETABLE::m_fileName and used in the FILENAME::m_name when creating three files.. The second one I can easely avoid, but I am alittle bit worried about the FILETABLE::m_fileName varible.. ...

Re: Converting CSBWin graphicengine to a OpenGL 3D engine

Thanks for the info Paul. I have checked if it is only a checksum problem but it seems to be more than that, almost like I alter the data inside the savegame unintentionally.. If I ignore the checksums I only get a big error! The savegame loads and saves fine in the game. But the utility don't seem ...

Re: Currently Unnamed DM Clone

And it's DEFINATELY far easier to create a game/engine than it is to give it a decent name. I thought it was all about priorities ;) But hey, take it easy on the namecalling. As long as your engine isn't finisihed you have a lot of time to think about it.. Once you have choosen a name you would hav...

Anyway, I finally got it working.. But it is annoying when almost all code are decleared as instances, harder to collect the garbage that way.. Fixed the RESTARTABLES with declaring a global boolean and by adding some extra code in the RESTARTMAP defenition that would reset the state and then return...

Re: Converting CSBWin graphicengine to a OpenGL 3D engine

The reason why I get allittle bit angry about these is because I want to be able to restart CSBWin without having to reload it. So when I restart it I reset the DBank and other varibles of importance, but there is still those RESTARTABLE functions that have static values in them. They all have a val...
