Bugger.

I hope that George sees this when he comes back. It's rather limiting to not be able to do it.

Thanx anyways Gambit.

The main one I was wanting was something like %MEMBER_NAME%...
EG: Member attempts spell cast, passes the usual spell casting checks, spell cast goes through triggers, triggers make it fail: "Gothmog's spell fizzles".

It needs to be a per character variable.

Substitution Strings

I'd like to request, from those people that know them, a list of possible "substitution strings"... EG: %MEMBER_LEADER%

I've been trying to do some things with WALLITEM_SPEECH and the "substitution strings" seem to be, by far, the best answer.

Thanx. :)

I've heard it called 'sitting on the throne' before.

Of course, in this 'run' you mentioned, it probably didn't feel much like a throne. :?

Good call.

All I have to say on this topic is:
The AI in RTC should be made as SMART as possible. I think that there should be a "intelligence" variable associated wth monsters per type (to allow for dumbing them down). George would be kind to do something about this.

From testing:
Create a clone of WALLSET_ALT using your new wallset as its default. Use WALLITEM_ACTION, ACTION_CHANGE_LEVEL_WALLSET, with the cloned item as your primary object.
NOTE: Don't forget to have a cloned WALLSET_ALT for your current wallset if you wish to change back.

Coming up with some interesting ideas Gambit... Keep 'em coming.

Along the same principle, could you MAKE a monster pick up a specific item EG: a character dies, spawning a monster on a nearby tile, the monster then "picks up" all the character's gear (including skeleton).

I like this idea. You could also change it depending on the primary character class, a fighter might have a sword cursor, while a mage might have a staff (referring to the leader here of course).

The DARK_AMBIENT approach may sorta work but not the way I'm referring to. For example: imagine a torch that eminates darkness instead of light, or armor that drains light (irrelevent of how many light spells you cast).

I know that it may be a while before you read this George, but I'd like to request negative lighting (both for FLOORITEM_LIGHT and equipped items). I'd like this to affect the maximum light level aswell EG: Normal light level/maximum: 80/100 Negative light level/maximum: (-10) 70/90 The main reason ...

LIGHTNING_FLASH is a cloned FLOORITEM_LIGHT. The mechanics just trigger it with a OBJECT_ACTIVATE, using a WALLITEM_ACTION. It's rather simple to duplicate. As for the DM2 dungeon in RTC, it DOESN'T duplicate the original lightning zaps, that I've been hit by many times. They've NEVER insta-killed a...

Per object animations

After playing around with RTC for some time now, I've come to realise the animations are global. IE: two cloned objects side-by-side, created at different times, will animate the exact same way. My request is for individual animations. I've been trying to recreate the true feel of DM2 using RTC, but...

I've been trying to recreate the spectre's attack from DM2 into RTC, or more the way that it continues to attack (if it can). Every method I try fails to work the way I want it to. @GG : I think that monsters should check if they can attack as soon as 1 of their ATTACK_METHODs cools down. IE: if I g...

@Gambit : The numbered monster attacks (I'm fairly certain) are strength n^2 so ATTACK_METHOD_MONSTER_4 = 16 strength, ATTACK_METHOD_MONSTER_7 = 49 strength, etc. There's a degree of randomness added to the output value, so ATTACK_METHOD_MONSTER_5 may be 23 - 27 strength, and then damage multiplier...

I've recently been working on doing cursed items, the item when equipped changes to a "non-removable", heavier version of itself. My suggestion is to make it so that any person (in specific here, myself) can change the "the %s cannot be removed". I'd prefer if it could be item sp...
