Re: "Editor Strikes Back" - A GUI editor for DSB
The functionality is fairly complex, but it's nicely packed up in a function. There's no reason it can't be assigned a keyboard shortcut, too. :) Gathered that it'd be something like that. Not difficult to do. The current mode is shown in the lower right. Since you didn't notice this, maybe it's no...

Re: Dungeon master VS legend of grimrock
@PetriH: True point. But, what I was getting at was that tomorrows games are going to make LoG not quite as "good looking" compared to them... whereas, DM has honestly crap graphics by todays standards (I mean, come on, look at that shocking stair-step aliasing :P ) but it still has quite...

What happened to this swordfight? I was just wandering around the forums, and noticed that it just suddenly stopped 6 months ago... did everybody decide to put the swords away? Where's the fun in that?

DM Clones Undercroft https://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/undercroft/id388644935?mt=8 Beautiful little game, with thoughtful design and some great nods to Dungeon Master (says things like ‘ful bro neta’ during loading for example) – and presently free, so worth a look. Now THAT is an awesome find. I dow...

Re: "Editor Strikes Back" - A GUI editor for DSB
Here's a couple of suggestions that should be very easy to implement, and it'll improve the "user friendliness" of ESB: While in cut and paste mode, could the standard keyboard shortcuts be used to control cut/copy/paste... control-x (cut), control-c (copy) & control-v (paste)? So you ...

Sounds like you're suited for the role. Congrats. I wish you good luck, it sounds like a job you'd quite enjoy doing... which, in my opinion, is the best job a person can have.

Re: New version of my business website
<RANT> This "global economic crisis" is hurting everyone, everywhere. The unemployment rate here in Australia has risen quite sharply in the last 12 months (Aussie's are apparently 5yrs behind everywhere else, give or take, so the crisis is only just starting to hit us pretty hard). The bi...

Re: Questions about DSB/ESB
Another question: Is there a way to determine keyboard events (key presses/releases) in DSB? If not, could a pair of new events be introduced sys_key_press and sys_key_release ? EDIT: I'm also looking to intercept keyboard events while in a "fullscreen renderer" (like the dungeon entrance,...

Re: Issues with dsb_get_font
On a related note: Why my does walltext appear as very small text (instead of the usual size)? All I've done is clone the original walltext item, and altered the front/side/font values... everything else is left alone... and yet, my walltext is about 1/2 to 1/3 the size of normal walltext

Re: Issues with dsb_get_font
It seems that my issue was my graphics handling program (IrfanView) slightly altering the RGB of the image file... which DSB didn't like

Re: [RTC] Dungeon Survival
That does look strange, Zed. But I play DSB in a window (with a native resolution of 1280x1024), so I'm used to the small screen. Is that RTC? What made it go that small?

Re: Issues with dsb_get_font
Yes, I have the text on a grid. All I did was take the original DSB wall_font.pcx, alter the palette (so the text was brown instead of grey) and then save it as a PNG, in a sub-folder.
I agree. All the graphics handling functions need to be made consistent. It was odd bumping into this alright

Re: Dungeon master VS legend of grimrock
I agree that LoG won't be remembered the way that DM was, but that's more to do with its time period, rather than any question over its quality or worth. I wasn't meaning that it was of a lesser quality, more that it's judged with far higher criticism. The games of DM's era were all about the gamep...

Issues with dsb_get_font
While trying to add the brown wall text from DM2, I've hit a roadblock... attempting to load a file with dsb_get_font crashes DSB, telling me it can't find the file :? If I try to load a PNG file, it crashes DSB unable to find it. If I try to load a BMP or PCX file, it seems to get a little further,...

Re: Dungeon master VS legend of grimrock
My opinion on this: If you can imagine LoG is gonna be around in 25 years... then it stands a chance against DM. But, I honestly can't see this happening. We're already talking about Grimrock 2 and Might and Magic X... so it seems that the community is slowly moving passed LoG, and it'll eventually ...

Re: Issue with wallsets that use transparent wall gfx
No! Sometimes you need to paint corners and intersections and not he whole tile... Makes sense. There would be situations that require "wall based" painting. But, then my suggestion to Sophia would be to make the "lock wallsets to centre" option part of the editor options like &...

Re: Issue with wallsets that use transparent wall gfx
I'm guessing that the cause is that you've written it not expecting transparent walls, so where they're transparent it doesn't actually bother drawing the floor/roof underneath the wall graphic (it just ends up using the level's default floor/roof image because nothing else gets drawn for the tile.....

I'm not painting the outer walls of the tile, I am painting the center. It seems to be an issue with handling transparent wall graphics.
