Re: CRPG Addict plays Dungeon Master

I only skimmd through the blog posts, but it sounds like the guy is coming to some valid points. Having no NPCs and almost no plot during the game itself are probably the game's biggest weaknesses if you look at it from today's standpoint. It more than makes up for it with its atmosphere, puzzles, a...

Does it include a Fiend of Nine Worlds? Or have I been playing too much Wizardry 7 lately?
Anyway, good to hear about a new upcoming dungeon! :)

If I am not mistaken, one of the Wizard Eyes carries the key. The key is definitely in that area, not hidden behind a wall or something.

Re: [RTC] Doom Blade

Thanks a lot for your kind words Sealtiel. :) It's funny that you mention Might & Magic, since I wanted to include some elements from it - mostly potions that, when consumed, permanently raised your stats, but I couldn't do it in RTC. I don't think the music bug (that may or may not be present; ...

Re: Item Cleanup

RTC's limits may be huge, but they are reachable. I remember a place in THOM's Xarostak 2 dungeon where a LOT of items were created. As a result, the game speed eventually slowed down to a crawl, making it barely playable.

Re: Doom Blade - Hint Book

GAH! :( I really have no clue what RTC is doing with this strength issue! You are not the first one to comment on problems about bashing doors... I'm not sure how Adamski and the master solved the problem. You could try putting the character in the rear row (it sounds silly, but something like this ...

By the way, anyone who finished the dungeon can have the text file. It is a horrible mess full of bad design and redundant stuff, but if you are curious (and finished the dungeon!), just PM me and I'll send it over.

Re: Non-euclidean geometry in 3D games

I'm not sure if "non-Euclidian" is a term I would use for this (stupid mathematicians, I know)... Anyway, I can only support zoom: Don't do this everywhere in a whole dungeon. It could quickly become annoying and brain-hurting. And Portal (which is a truly marvelous game) is quite differen...

Re: Doom Blade - Hint Book

Gambit: Try walking counter-clockwise if possible. When you enter the room, there are basically three ways you can go (though all are closed off when you enter it), one on the left, one in the middle, and one on the right. You need to go left and step on a small pad. This will open a wall on the way...

Re: Not fed up

Your party is fine, but melee is usually more effective than magic. Anyway, Hissssa is a decent fighter with a respectable amount of mana. Stamm is probably the only one whom I consider clearly superior, mostly for his axe and high stamina. But he does not have mana. Wuuf is just a good all-around c...

Re: New version of my business website

I can only stress what others have already said. You clearly underestimate your own skills (I know it because the two of us are sometimes rather similar, and I know that I undersell my own skills ;)). Think of it this way: You actually know MORE than is required for a certain specialized job. If you...

The gender-issue that really catches people off-guard is that Wuuf is actually female (which puts the manhood of a certain admin here into question...).

Re: Not fed up

The Skull Keys indeed provide an express route back up. You need to go back up once as soon as you have the necessary keys. By now, you should have found two Ra Keys. You need to find one more as well as another special key (you will know that it's important once you have it) . So, I'd say go a bit ...

Thanks for your view on the dungeon Zed. Too bad you stopped playing so early, as you have only seen about 15% of the game. Re: Not fed up

Also, the level you were scouting is the last one with Wizard Eyes in it, and they are the most dangerous in the first room in the level. So if you pass the first room, you have the worst past you (at least in terms of Wizard Eyes). Good that you found the Ra Key! It's much more important than the S...

Re: Not fed Up

slide, you are more or less correct about armor. It DOES make a difference if you wear something or not, but not a huge one. I usually don't wear anything heavier than a chain shirt (6.5 kg). It is indeed a good idea to never let your characters get yellow. The jewelry is similar. The Moonstone has ...

Re: Not fed Up

There is a fireball shooter on a wall on that level that is operated by tiny floor pads, but that is rather deep into the level, so I'm not sure what hit you. On that level, beware of the funny little brown monsters (not the robed guys and not the hairy rats). You do not want these things to attack ...

Re: Fed Up

I'll even be a bit more spoiler-ish than Beo: Somewhere in this giant room, there is a grey key lying on the floor. You NEED that key, and as Beo already said, it is harder to see in RTC than it was in the original. CSB is indeed much harder than DM, mostly because it is so hard to find your way aro...

Re: Doom Blade - Hint Book

the master:
Spoiler
You have to stand directly in front of the two altars. For the light spell, have you cast the simple Ful spell? You need to cast the more powerful Oh Ir Ra spell. If you cast both spells directly in front of their respective altars, the pit in front of the key should close.

Re: Fed Up

Yes, the Fireshield spell Ful Bro Neta will help. Cast it a few times. But as many others said, this is a problem of RTC. In the original version, Wizard Eyes (and other spellcasting monsters) do a lot less damage. Furthermore, projectiles - including fireballs, poison bolts and so on - fly much fas...

the master: Yes you are. There seems to be some sort of issue with bashing doors, however. Adamski could only do it with a weak character and a low fighter rank from the rear, while his stronger, more experienced fighter couldn't do it from the front row. I have no idea what's the matter there. :( M...
