Ohh yeah I remember now, Ian Scho was Haynuus. And yeah, it was a cool game :D.

Re: INN OF LOST SOULS: general chit-chat thread

Woo, hey there, I remember you :D. Didn't you play Haynuus in that DnD game Wuffy ran like, a decade ago? Or were you the paladin guy (Auric, Aurek, something like that) who joined later?

Re: Favourite and least favourite level?

Clockwise is Level Eleven (the one where you get the key to pick a route between wasps, water elementals, and blue trolls), while the one with the scorpions is Level Ten (starts with "Beware my twisted humour..." and has "Zoooooom" near the end). Unless you count the Hall of Cham...

Re: Show us your Dungeon Master stuff/setup

Used to still have the original Atari and disks but got rid of that a few years ago since I have an emulator now for general Atari games (STEEM), although for DM/CSB I've been using CSBWin for years.

Re: A bridge from Ku to Dain

There are lots of connections - you can go from one Way to another without even noticing as there are all kinds of pits, stairways, invisible teleporters, etc. And at one point at the Corbum Pillar you can sneak around deliberately from one to another (Ros and Dain, possibly?) by stepping on a fake ...

Peace? My sister has a not-far-off-two-year-old now and another on the way, I don't think we'll have peaceful Christmases any time soon :D.
But yeah, have a good one, eat lots of chocolate or whatever other fun things :D

It's not actually mine, it's run by ParuNexus ("DMologist" in the Discord server), though I have "ownership" status to act as a kind of backup from one time when Paru was having some account issues and decided to just leave me as-is once said issues were sorted :).

Hi, welcome to the forum :). Feel free to post any stories of your time playing DM/CSB or whatever - it's always cool to see someone else who had the same kind of experiences as we did. You can also join the Discord if you want - some of us are there and it's generally pretty quiet, but sometimes a ...

Re: Favourite and least favourite level?

At least Thieves in DM can be rendered useless by just having everyone empty their off-hand, since that's the only hand they can steal from.
Funnily enough, I agree on the fishbirds and pegos. Thieving little shites.

Re: Best champions - an analytical approach

Of course, on my last playthrough, leaving behind the junk I never use/equip did mean I left behind something like the bow and then had to go back for it once I reached the Riddle Room on Level Six and realised I was missing something...okay I know you don't have to solve all the riddles (or at leas...

Re: Best champions - an analytical approach

I think the last couple of times I've played, I've finally realised that since I use so few of the items, I can just <gasp> not bother looting them in the first place, so actually I no longer end up with a big loot pile by the Level Nine stairwell :D.

Re: Best champions - an analytical approach

Oh yeah, the fountain room near the Rat Room is a pretty common "safe spot" for most people, I think, being how it's got easy access to water, food, and the Central Stairwell.

Re: Hey guys

Hiya, welcome to the forum :). I think DM2 is generally thought of as "less good" compared to DM and CSB, because it changed a lot of stuff and is generally fairly short. Some of the stuff was cool, though, like the minion maps were fun (did anyone not have porter minions carry all their t...

Re: Trying An Old One

Huh, I play with my left hand on the numpad too (and right hand on the mouse) and I had no great difficulty. But I've always played games using the arrow keys to navigate (at least, in games where movement is done using the keyboard of course :D), so the numpad isn't super far a stretch over. And I ...

Re: Best champions - an analytical approach

Heya, welcome to the forum :D. I can't say I've ever bothered to analyse the characters in any great detail myself since they can all do a decent job, so I go more by the portrait than anything else. Skills don't matter since I reincarnate (and you end up with better stats that way anyway), but I do...

Re: Trying An Old One

The illumulet is the necklace that sheds light. The moonstone gives a couple of mana points. You can also use pretty much any staff or wand. As far as training up your characters goes, note that you get more exp the deeper you are in the dungeon, so training against the rats will get you more exp th...

I've never actually done him in that little room, nor even been there, I don't think. I tend to use the area near the corner just inside the entrance and off to the right, where there's more floor space (I didn't know until reading on the forum that you could use physical walls as well as fluxcages)...

Re: Trying An Old One

Oh cool, the Dragon is actually a fight I enjoy because he's so easy. At least, because I fight him in his room - can easily do the step dance and alternate between stabbing him and...using an item you haven't got yet. If he ends up in the corridor I can either do the "run downstairs, stab, run...

Re: Trying An Old One

Wow, you only died twice so far? Sounds like you're doing pretty well :D. I'm not sure how spell vines look anything like any kind of mollusc considering they are floating ghostly orb things with viney-tentacle things hanging down. And the giant spiders at least look more spider-like then crab-like....

Re: Trying An Old One

Yeah, stone giants/golems are the toughest monsters in the game, being highly resistant to basically every damage type (and probably immune to the rest, eg poison). Fortunately you can mostly avoid them, depending on where you're trying to go. Have you read the game's backstory, found in the manual?...

Re: Trying An Old One

Ahh, the wonderful Level Twelve...yeah the Spell Vines are a pain (the ones that look like a floating blue globe with twined brown vine thingys hanging down). The Knights and Giant Spiders are..well, also annoying but at least they can't cast spells :P.

Re: Trying An Old One

The uber axe is called Hardcleave. I think you would've got that on Level Ten (the one with the scorpions). Personally, at least since playing the game in CSBWin, I've ended up gravitating toward weapons that have a "Thrust" attack since it seems good damage at a decent attack speed. So my...

Hi, welcome to the forum :). I'm not sure about the modding part but various people around here have designed cloned versions of DM over the years, so maybe one of them can help.
