Re: A question on DM2
CSBWin uses the Atari version of DM/CSB. DM2 came out on PC, not Atari, so that's probably why it's not available through CSBWin.

Re: Which route do you start first ?
Oh yeah I do that too, the first halves of each path before the DDD I mean. I remember skipping "part two" of one section via the fake pits but I thought it was Dain, not Ros (but used a route from the Ros side of the pillar). Oh well, it's been several years since I last replayed it and I...

Hehe yeah, and also now there is mo more disk-swapping to save/load games (had the Atari version, back in the day), just one click and done .

Re: Which route do you start first ?
Yeah, I do Ku first too, because I find it the easiest, and dragons are fun to fight . Not overly fussed about Executioner, but Ku in general isn't too hard, I find. Dain is the worst .

Re: Chani sent me here
Like probably a lot of us here, I didn't have "online" yet when first playing the games. We had a guide book thing for DM (scans available on the Encylopaedia website, it's the one with the blue highlighter over most of the maps ;)), but nothing for CSB and yet manage to figure that one ou...

Woo, hi, wecome to the forum and gratz on finally completing the game :D. Have you had a go at CSB yet? If you have, feel free to tell us about it. If you haven't, good luck with it and don't worry about the multiple times you will get lost and/or die :D. Incidentally, we have a Discord server if yo...

Re: What do you want in a Dungeon Crawler?
I think for many of those choices I'm not too bothered, as long as the end result is fun for me. One thing, though - combat in DM isn't turn-based. You are free to move around/attack as you wish, as in the later Grimrock games (which are a homage to DM so that's no surprise ).

Re: Excitement at finding old DM handbook
Well, it was a gaming system - we played games on it, like DM . I mean, it could be used for stuff that wasn't gaming, I suppose...but isn't that true of most such hardware?

Re: Anyone else stack there stuff in a specific area?
I never use magic items like bombs or magic boxes. The Dragon I just kite around doing the step-dance so he's pretty easy (and fun ;)) to deal with. Going in circles (well, squares) whilst repeatedly stabbing him and blasting with the Firestaff (I only have two characters so I'm quickly switching be...

Re: Anyone else stack there stuff in a specific area?
I think I used to use a "stash" in both games - in DM it was on the Central Stairwell on Level Nine (since it's not far from both a water source and the Rat Room, as mentioned above), and in CSB I think I may have dumped stuff at the Junction of the Ways on occasion, unless that was my dad...

Re: My CSB journey.
I've never bothered with any of the buff spells so lacking the levels to cast them has never been a problem for me - I think about the only spells I ever use are Fireball, Harm Non-Material Being, health potions, cure poison potions, erm...Zokathra for those couple of instances across DM/CSB where y...

Re: My CSB journey.
As this is your second playthrough, you should now also have some idea as to which items you actually want to hang on to due tot hem being actually useful/important, plus knowing your way around the dungeon a bit better might mean you can more easily navigate back to various known locations if you n...

Re: My CSB journey.
I play with two characters these days anyway and I've comlpeted DM and CSB with them with no great issue (and without really bothering to stop and actively train stuff). With only one or two characters you can also dodge incoming projectiles just by turning sideways, although I usually forget/don't ...

Re: My CSB journey.
The downstairs dragon has the solid key, not the onyx - it's what gets you into "Part Two" of Ku (with "Dead End" and "Dragon's Den" and all that). I can't remember where you get the onyx, though. As for threads...maybe just continue here, since the title is still appli...

Re: My CSB journey.
Woohoo, gratz :D. I can't remember the route I took on that final level the first time around (back at the beginning of the '90s or whenever I played it), but I probably did much the same as you did. In a more recent playthrough and looking at a map, there's actually a kind of "back door" ...

Re: My CSB journey.
Okay :). So let's see...as you can probably tell by now, each of the four Ways has a "Part One" that leads from the Junction to the DDD, and then a "Part Two" which leads to the Corbum Pillar. Each "Part Two" is unlocked by a unique key found in "Part One" of ...

Woohoo, gratz on your victory :D. I can remember finishing the game at least once "back in the day" when I was probably about six or seven or thereabouts - I can't remember who all my party members were but I know I use to take Hawk a lot for some reason so maybe he was there. I know I had...
