I wouldn't do anything about thom's complaint about the file being a bit big. At the quoted sizes the ogg files are probably 64kbs - already a low bitrate. 48kbs is possible but sounds rubbish, 96kbs is comparable in quality to standard 128kbs MP3s. Also, with a modern broadband connection, 13MB is ...

Imprisoned Again was the one that came to mind for me too. A trad DM adventure which is just right in oh so many respects. Remember almost all the old PC DM dungeons can be played in CSBWin (you have to open and save them in CSBuild). P.S. Er, yes, Angel's Egg and parody. Guilty as charged  :D

Alas no. I'm not *that* old. Your Hawkwind book may well say when she made her last appearance (looks on Google) - August 1975.

I saw Hawkwind live several times in the late 70s and early 80s. The Levitation tour with Tim Blake and Ginger Baker was probably the most impressive, though I have fond memories of the Quark tour in 77 with Calvert and his flying goggles. I was only 14, and it was my first "proper" concert.

Hawkwind - one of my old faves too. The 70s stuff is the best, especially Space Ritual, Quark Strangeness and Charm, and Warrior at the Edge of Time (which includes the track Opa-Loka, and The Golden Void, this being one of the classic rock lyric inscriptions in my dungeon, and the name of level 10)...

It's quite good but nothing special. It does fall between too stools somewhat in trying to be serious and jokey at the same time. Not an easy thing to pull off. I agree that Keith Allen is great as the sheriff but I find Marian plastic and Robin drippy.

There have been a lot of people shrieking for it to be banned, particularly in the right-wing press. It was banned from the Essen Games Fair this year, and UK shops are refusing to stock it. The thing with satire is that it has to be topical to work. The Nuclear War game was originally made in 1968 ...

War on Terror Boardgame

http://www.waronterrortheboardgame.com/ A bit of satirical fun in a similar vein to the classic Nuclear War card game I thought (and bought one). When I read the press links on the above site, I was amazed at the vitriolic outpouring against this game. Sure it's not exactly in the "best possibl...

A fun idea. Perhaps it could be used in a sort of Howgarts scenario, in which young would-be adventurers attend Dungeon School. There they use the magic food to practice with and it all gets out of hand one day with a mass fight in the dining hall. The ringleaders (the party) are then suspended from...

Daft Dungeon Ideas

Come on, 'fess up folks. Have you ever had a really crap idea for custom dungeon? I had one recently, this being "The Screamers Strike Back". The scenario is as follows: The Screamers' union, fed up with having sand kicked in their faces by both adventurers and more powerful monsters alike...

Just gave this one a go. I bought some clothes for 1 copper, killed the screamers in the zoo, went through the main doors, beat up more screamers in the forest and collected a waterskin. As the little green buggers seemed to be regenerating I decided this must be a training area so went and played w...

The only thing that worries me a little is that some custom dungeons, in which the characters are liable to cop a fireball or two early doors, might become too deadly.

The config.txt file in the RTC root directory, right at the end, has a FRAMERATE parameter. If set to YES it will tell you how fast RTC is running during play. On a modern machine you should get close to 60FPS most of the time. Lunever reported his machine going below 10 in some cases.

[Fixed for V0.44] Version number wrong on RTCEditor window

OK, a piffling thing, but I thought I'd better mention it as it did make me check that I hadn't fired up the 0.42 editor by mistake
