Re: Advanced search
I see I opened a can of worms. I am sorry. I had a look to a forum which has a lot of users on line, to see what it does against the search service overloading. DIYaudio a site for audio and electronics geeks http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/ I did a search for the , it was rejected because the is a t...

Re: Advanced search
Thanks, I hope this fix will be good for everybody, for more than just my personal search about cave story. Sorry about the time you spent to fix it. Is'n it simpler to remove completely the common word list feature invented by the PhpBB guys. I think it cannot work because there are and will be, le...

Re: Advanced search
Thanks, I understand the reason of the PhpBB guys about common words, but what can I do to see wether the game cave_ story was already discussed on the forum ? A search request for cave_story is changed into cave story what can one do with common words like cave and story ? Obviously I cannot use ot...

Re: Advanced search
Thanks,
Indeed, I had tried +cave +story to see it does an OR too.
I hope the advanced search will be fixed, it is frustrating when you do a search on words which are likely to be in all sorts of posts.

I do not understand. I search "cave story" with "Search for all terms or use query as entered". Expecting posts which have "cave" AND "story" I get tons of posts ( 15 pages ) most, only have "cave" , such a search result is about useless ! Am I doing...

Re: RTC vs DSB
George once observed that the system of actuators in RTC is Turing complete. What this means is that RTC actuators essentially are a programmable computer. Creating complex mechanics in RTC essentially is programming. There really is no difference-- except RTC's "language" is extremely lo...

Re: [RTC] Dungeon Survival
I completed the game four times with, Elija the beggar, Leif the poet, Alex the thief, Halk the savage. I firstly thought, oh well ! Another http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brainfuck too hard dungeon. After a while, I liked it. I enjoyed replays to find everything hidden in the dungeon. Buuuut. I am no...

Excellent! Very well done indeed! :D So there are actually two rivers flowing out of the mountains of Vendri - one to the southeast and one to the northwest? Perhaps you could move the title "Vendri" slightly to the left so that it doesn't overlap with the river line (the river flowing be...

Custom Dungeon like Dungeon Keeper
[Admin Note: Split from the DSB April Fool thread - please stay on topic in future] Can we have dungeons where you play the bad guy with his minions, like in dungeon keeper. Enough of those heroes that destroy nicely crafted dungeons and hurt their dwellers. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en...

Re: (not a bug) Damage adds up when hitting a wall
You already have the cumulative aspect shown in the health bar. As you mention a cumulative damage also needs another parameter to state over which time period. Add a flag to tell wether it is a sliding period of a fixed period ( when no damage any more, will it decrease regularly or drop to 0 at th...

Re: (not a bug) Damage adds up when hitting a wall
Thanks for your explanation of the CumulativeDamage.
It is good to be aware of this.
IMO the "cumulative" doesn' make sense and, it is confusing. The default dsb.ini should be without it, in order to show damage as of the original DM.
I updated my dsb.ini to CumulativeDamage = 0

Re: Might and magic X - Legacy
Indeed, the Xeen serie was quite ugly, with a small viewport.....
But the plot, the features were so good, one was forgiving and forgetting about the look.
[rant] Nowdays we have mostly nice 3D rendering, but too many games that have just only that, it looks good but that' s all. [/rant]

Thanks, this gives me a road map.
I searched and found a lot on the forums and the wiki, but I can' t figure out:
a) How to clone it.
b) How to give it a bitmap.
c) how to make it available in the editor.

Check with native australians about the end of the world. I am sure, they know better than the mayans. If they did not stockpile ressources, relax, do not worry. Watch for "Black rain". Prophecies handed down from generation to generation of the Australian aboriginal Elders speak of...

I am interested about what you've seen in Australia, please give me links. I think the Mayan calendar end of the world bit was considered no more than just another end of the world that failed to happen. Some are pretty funny, in one of them some people were to be saved, all others bound to die. Bus...

What can I do with an invisible "Switch lever" ?
1) When set invisiible, I find no way to operate it. I tested with a lever targeting a counter. When set visible, no problem it does something to the counter. When set invisible it does nothing. 2) I find no way to change a visible lever to become invisible. ( neither to change an invisible lever to...

Re: [RTC] Dungeon Survival
I think "dungeon survival" is not randomized.
It has options depending of which of the four caracters ( Elija Leif Halk Alex ) the player has chosen when entering the dungeon.
Playing with Elija, the three scrolls appreared because I solved a puzzle.

Re: [RTC] Dungeon Survival
To be honest: I firstly completed the game with Elija unaware of these three scrolls. I was wondering about unresolved stuff so I made more investigations and tests with Elija. Then I got the three scrolls at a place where there was no scroll before. Scrolls so kryptic that I posted them on the foru...

Re: one sided wallset
This reminds me when I tried to redraw a wall to hide a lever displayed in the old state. I found no way.
RTC draws wall items over the wall and ? other items ? is the drawing order well defined ? who knows.
Sorry, no answer, more questions !

To see about DSB versus RTC, I made the same dungeon puzzle I had made before in RTC. With DSB, it was fast and easy right away. You can play with these sources to compare the GUI editors: ESB versus RTCEditor. You can run these games to compare the engines: DSB versus RTC. For DSB http://twinfalls....

Re: [RTC] Dungeon Survival
Because it is telling the player, something he most likely, already knows.
Spoiler
The room is very small, it is much easier to find the fake wall than to find a clue in the 3 scrolls
