Re: Dungeons Kingdom

Re: [RTC] New Dungeon: Return to Skullkeep (Beta)
I'm lost... I have both keys you talked about, but can't find where is/are the doors. I've been exploring and re-exploring everywhere for like 1 hour, with "footprints" on , and still can't find where to go. I also know of 3 doors that I can't open ( the main door, obviously, and I haven't...

Re: Access Violation: Is there an object limit in RTC? Hel
I hadn't been thinking too much about how it was achieved, but in this dungeon the meat dropped from monsters rots after a while, if not properly cooked. Apparently each piece of meat (which is generated in game) has its own duration, similarly to a torch. So yes, that might be thanks to the charge ...

For the ageing food, it has been done in the dungeon I'm currently playing: http://www.dungeon-master.com/forum/vie ... 39#p146847 . Try killing some wolves.
I guess the same can be done for swapping to NULL the not-very-interesting items dropped on the floor for too long.

Re: How to start CSB under Linux?
I understand that you want to reduce the abuse, but I also agree with Terkio, being able to edit the last post, at least over several hours, would be nice. Well, except if you prefer double/triple posts... Also, no time limit for the first post of a topic, so the author can: - update a custom dungeo...

Re: How to start CSB under Linux?
I was hoping someone would reply so that I could avoid triple posting. Oh, well. Even if I get banned, I can still read any feedback. What? They would ban the creator of CSBwin (and a global moderator) for 3 successive posts in 2 days !? Damn, I hope they won't see that I managed 4 posts in 2 hours...

Re: [RTC] New Dungeon: Return to Skullkeep (Beta)
Yes, I think a longer pause would be enough for this NPC. Or a menu opening with "more" as only option. I can buy green boxes. I've been able to release one of my party members after several mistakes using the green box. The method to dismiss a party member makes sense, but it's far from b...

Re: Access Violation: Is there an object limit in RTC? Hel
Concerning ToC, it has tons of relays/actions/triggers. I haven't tested what the number is now, but I think Adamski managed to very highly reduce the number of objects. I tested the remaining number of objects in my own dungeon, it's about 5800, and I was thinking of adding several new levels, plus...

Re: [RTC] New Dungeon: Return to Skullkeep (Beta)
I started it again. So far, after like 1 or 2 hours, I really like it. Too bad the first version was not attracting in the very beginning, because what comes next is very good. Two first remarks: - The text sometimes come too fast, I think about that guy who gives you a quest in the tunnels (with sk...

Re: Access Violation: Is there an object limit in RTC? Hel
I should have looked at your new post before, Terkio: I found the same by looking in RTC: Try editing the tile on (1,0,0): the apples references are numbered by steps of 1 from 100-1 to 100-60, which makes 60 apples. This is the same on most of the tiles, except on some tiles (9 on the first line) w...

Re: Access Violation: Is there an object limit in RTC? Hel
Well, here's my test dungeon: http://www.mediafire.com/view/cqgqz0h20ixvnpx/test_limit.txt It's less readable, having sometimes 500 items on the same tile, so you'll have to trust me: it has 7500+7500+4500=19500 sets of [corns, apples, cheeses, flasks] plus 400 botas plus 80 steaks for a total of 19...

Re: Access Violation: Is there an object limit in RTC? Hel
Weird, I have some apples stuck in walls in your file... Anyway, I can open it. If I have 4 apples in my clipboard, I can't add one single apple. If I have only one apple in my clipboard, I still can add 2 apples (so the total is 19996 + 2 + 1 in the clipboard=19999 apples). I can't even add a singl...

Re: Access Violation: Is there an object limit in RTC? Hel
i was horrified to discover that i had lost around 70 objects (i had set up an apple count in my proper dungeon). I don't understand what you mean there. Do you have a technique for counting all types of objects in your main dungeon? I think there is some sort of limit, especially if the crashes al...

Re: Set_light_ambient method?
@Terkio: I've been giving a try at your adder, it indeed works well for simple additions. For complicated systems, I guess you might get interferences if the values you're trying to add change during the addition (which, being based on looped relays, is not instantaneous). In this case you have to b...

Re: Set_light_ambient method?
This is a part of what the level will be, yes. For the rest, you'll see, in time. I think I'll try building some other riddles around this. I just had a new idea. The main difference with the normal DM lighting system is that casting a spell sets the lighting instead of increasing it. But it should ...

Re: Set_light_ambient method?
Allright, I tried finishing this solution to see how it feels. It's not DM, but it feels quite good and it provides a full control on the lighting . Yay. Player point of view : casting FUL will set the lighting around the player at a level defined by the power rune: LO=very poor lighting, MON=very g...

Re: Global Swap Issues
4th post in a row? Yesssss. You actually don't even need to swap the items into a cloud, swap_global and swap_tile accept "null" as second argument. I guess you were trying to use swap_global_fast. Anyway, in what you want to do, you have to use swap_tile. BTW, I guess a swap_global would ...

Allright, I've been talking too fast... Too bad we can't edit our posts after a few minutes, sorry for the third post in a row... Forget everything else I said, here's a working, very clean solution: an "on and over" trigger activated by the item you want to delete. It activates a swap_til...

Re: Global Swap Issues
Mmmh, I forgot some classic tricks. Just swap (or "rust") the item for an invisible, silent "cloud", and that's it, the object is destroyed. Edit: it won't work for swap, but it works for rust... This would be a solution if you don't want to use rust for something else, nor for s...

Re: Global Swap Issues
It would probably be better to create a new topic for this question, so other people interested in it can find it. The best would be to let the admin move it to a new topic (maybe?). My first idea is the rust_party_all action, with strength 100. I don't know if that would do it for you. From my test...

Re: Set_light_ambient method?
Nice trick. But I have some other things in the level that make a similar system impossible to use... I don't want to reveal what the whole riddle is about... I forgot to say, I've found a solution that would probably work using the method described above (with all the beaaaauuuutiful colors). Inste...

Re: Access Violation: Is there an object limit in RTC? Hel
Good to know... You can try destroying all the triggers, relays, etc in game as soon as they've done their work and are not useful anymore. And if by chance there are some parts of your dungeon that are not accessible after some point, you can destroy everything inside. It might help... But well, yo...

Re: Set_light_ambient method?
I want to be able to decided exactly how a level is lighted and how to light it, independently from the previously casted spells. Example of something working perfectly: the player casted several normal FUL and OH IR RA spells before (well, the normal behaviour). He enters that level. He finds himse...

Re: Set_light_ambient method?
I also tried using DARK_AMBIENT exactly as I use LIGHT_AMBIENT (through a spell activating a relay activating an action), and I get the same problem: it just works once. I even tried making a DARK_AMBIENT attack method for a monster so I don't use an action object, and I get the same as well: the mo...

Re: Global Swap Issues
I sporadically work in RTC.
I just left my dungeon for about 2 years, but I need to finish it some day... The txt file is about 1500ko, I have about 1 000 new gfx files, including most of the Black Crypt gfx that were never extracted before: it's big and it would be a shame to leave it unfinished.

Re: Set_light_ambient method?
Well, I've tried looking into this again. Basically, it's about being able to control the lighting without totally killing the DM lighting mechanics. I tried SU's solution, but finding exactly how fast the light (and longer light) spell fades out is very complicated... It seems like there are severa...

Re: Access Violation: Is there an object limit in RTC? Hel
I can understand the pain... Well, I don't want to make it even worse, but if you've read what Adamski said in the next messages, he also had freezes when items were created in game. My guess is: for example if you have a dungeon that just reaches the objects limit, let's say 10 000, and if there ar...

Re: Access Violation: Is there an object limit in RTC? Hel
Adamski had the same problem with Tower of Champions, but I don't know the details... Read there: http://www.dungeon-master.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=28336#p101398 According to the dates, it was probably occuring with RTC 0.49. I have the source files of ToC, it's really huge. The .txt file...
