Re: SPX:Dungeon Crawler System for DM

Cool, nice to see you're still working on this. How does the wall and floor graphics replacement work? And what size is the dungeon view? Could this work with high resolution modern graphics?

Re: Questions about DSB/ESB

A bit random, but would you consider changing the startup screen to render it's text on black, rather than blue? It would make much more sense now that everyone has widescreens with black bars on the left and right of the DSB 4:3 display. The current blue screen startup looks odd when the custom gam...

Re: Unidentified German magazine scan

I ran Google translate on it which yielded a very funny review that mostly made sense but was also full of gibberish. It did not reveal anything about the publication itself though.

Re: I'm done with big main-stream games

That sounds pretty weird to be honest. I've never played a game with micro-transactions and likely never will. To me, that's not what gaming is about at all. If all games end up going down that route, I'd never buy a new game again... but that suits me fine. I'm not very good at most games these day...

Re: I'm done with big main-stream games

Do you think all these annoying ways of making money are here only to increase profit from games that are already profitable from their initial buying price, or are they necessary to actually pay for the creation of these games? In other words, should all these manipulative tricks be removed from g...

Re: Dungeons of the Amber Griffin

BUT it's a bit weird with graphics like that to have grid-based movement, though I would be willing to take that as an hommage to the genre. I do still have great fondness for grid-based dungeon games, and I will still play them because of my nostalgia for them. But you are right: modern game engin...

I recently watched this on Youtube and I thought it was a great summary of why modern gaming has got so bad. I just came across this cool looking dungeon crawler to be released later this year, "Dungeons of the Amber Griffin": https://dungeons-griffin.com/ Lots of info on their website, or check out some gameplay videos on their Youtube channel: https://www.youtube.com/@DungeonsoftheAmberGriffin ...

Not just young people ;-) I don't think I've ever finished a single creative project that I've started. But I'm fine with that. The fun part is the creative exploration along the way -- finishing is rarely the point, for me anyway.

Yep, although to be honest all these UE5 demos of old games might look nice, but they are so far removed from the original that a remake seems pointless and a new original game would make much more sense.

I think there was an ideological rift at FTL around custom dungeons from users. Not everyone shared Wayne's view about that... Several staff felt that allowing swathes of low quality dungeons from fans would dilute the DM brand and make it harder for them to create future games that people would spe...

Yes, I looked at Linux, but it's just a bit too "techy" for my liking, even with a shiny GUI on top. At least the MacOS GUI is mature, I get the impression that all the Linux GUIs are a bit of a mess.

You raise some good points which I'm still considering, so I'm not 100% committed to Mac just yet. Re: Help with buying a new laptop

I don't think I'd risk those upgrades on the new M1 machines! And they don't support dual boot anymore, at least not for Windows. For that, I'd need Parallels and the Arm version of Windows 11. It's an option down the line, but I'm not bothered about it initially. I'm done with tinkering with tech, ...
