Re: Questions about DSB/ESB

How do I send the party to sleep? You can't. I honestly couldn't think of any time when this would be needed. 8) Is there a way of moving the zZZ button out of the inventory and into the main interface area, so it's always available? Oh, I get it now. Not at the moment. I'll look into thi...

Sundog for sale

If anyone is interested, I'm selling a hard-to-find old copy of FTLs first game "Sundog" for the Atari ST. (Note: the disk is untested, I don't know if it's readable or not):

Re: What do you want in a Dungeon Crawler?

Yeah I was confused by that too. DM is "real time", not turn based. Also it would be worth clarifying the first two options. I think they mean "drawn with 2D images" and "built in true 3D". "Retro" and "Modern" could mean any number of things and are...

Re: Road to full team of Archmasters (SNES)

Interesting screenshots. Those alpha prefixes (a, b, etc) would suggest a bug, or incomplete feature. The characters should be mapped to runes, so you should be seeing the power runes displayed there instead.

Sure, but that looks terrible. I'm talking about completely redrawing things, a totally handcrafted approach.

You have to host images elsewhere, then paste the direct link into your post and surround it with the [IMG][/IMG] tags. You can't use those Facebook links as they resolve to a full webpage, not a direct image link. Plus FB is limited to your privacy settings. You need to host images on a public site.

Re: Pre-scaled images for Things, Doors and Creatures?

Cool, absolutely no worries at all, I just throw these things out there when I think of them. My other solution is to go the other way and redraw everything in higher resolution! DSB scales native 2x graphics much better. However I suspect the sun will consume the earth in a vast heat-death before I...

Pre-scaled images for Things, Doors and Creatures?

Could archetypes be extended to take a bunch of pre-scaled extra bitmaps for the scaled views of Things, Doors and Creatures? In trying to create DM/CSBs original pixellated look, I'm getting really poor results with DSBs own dynamic scaling of low-res images -- the images end up very "scratchy...

Re: New PC external drive that loads Amiga disks!

Wow, that's pretty cool! I don't think I have any of my old disks, well only some DM/CSB disks now. I did have a huge box of them a few years back but I think I trashed them all after going through a torturous exercise of getting what I could salvage onto my PC. I can't even remember how I did it to...

DM Creatures as Miniatures via Hero Forge

I was inspired by Danielle's DM2 characters to have a go at creating some DM creatures using the Hero Forge tool. It's not possible to create exact likenesses, but I think I got quite close with these six:

Hey Danielle, these are really good, your heroes really capture the spirit of their DM counterparts. I'd not come across Hero Forge before, that's a great little tool and service, and has given me lots of ideas of how to use it to generate sprites for custom DSB/RTC adventures... :D

Re: Back to the source: ReDMCSB

Hi Christophe, in your research for ReDMCSB, did you determine if creating Ful Bombs was possible in any version? I know that Doug Bell said it's possible in an early version of DM, but I'm still not sure if he's mistaken?

Re: Unreleased SNES/Famicom versions of Dungeon Master?

Yes, you're right, in fact the first box for the first version of DM on Atari shows a completely different version of the game! It's strange though that the SNES creatures were eventually redrawn, in a very different style. I can't think of a better description than "more Japanesey"! Maybe...

Unreleased SNES/Famicom versions of Dungeon Master?

This Japanese advert for Dungeon Master on the Super Famicom (SNES) shows a very different version of the game, from the one that was eventually released. Notice that the creatures and interface are quite close to those in the original Atari ST/Amiga versions: http://dmweb.free.fr/files/Flyer_Dungeo...

In my DM update I've redesigned those graphics so that they don't obscure each other, so I'd never noticed the issue!

Re: Questions about DSB/ESB

I'm sure I already know the answer to this, but is there a way of providing bitmaps for the scaled views of creatures, rather than having the engine do it dynamically? When working in 2x pixels, creatures end up looking quite funky when scaled and don't really match the rest of the nice 2x pixel art.
