Re: Inglourious Basterds

I am a pretty big fan of QT (esp. Resevoir Dogs) and found this film way too mainstream for my tastes. I probably would have enjoyed it better if it was another director and had not viewed it with certain expectations. The intro scene was pretty damn good. It was cool that it isn't all in English an...

Re: Running Java in Vista

Ok. We're getting somehere. Didn't understand that it was an install problem. I'd suggest grabbing solito's version and using it. http://solito.free.fr/games/dmjava/solito_addon_v2.php

Re: Running Java in Vista

Open a command prompt and type "java -version" return. Should get something other than an error. If not your enviornment variables are not set up correct. If it spews out a version number, make a batch file (like Launch.bat) with the following line: "start javaw -Xmx512m DMNew" (...

Re: Running Java in Vista

Humm..should have ask this in the DMJ board! (edit: ignore that, I think I wasn't awake yet)

You'll have to provide more details. I have no problems running DMJ under Vista. (edit: following added). What java are you using and which flavor of DMJ are you attempting to use?

Re: TV & Film Remakes -- rant here!

Why don't they remake the stuff that was crap, instead of destroying the good stuff? From a quick glance, doesn't a high percentage of these qualify as crap? There's a few that I really enjoyed, but nothing I'll cry about if trashed. Besides remakes are sometime better than the original (or differe...

True. But it's your "flashy" banner that caught my eye...GTG need to pick the meat tree.

Re: Teleporter/Alcove Pictures doesnt work.

I really need to get around to releasing an alpha of my hacked DMJ. Resource issues are easier to deal with. (curse beowuuf for introducing me to KoL which is chewing up all my spare time!) Some of the changes are described here.

Re: Hq2x, 3x and 4x upsampling tools required.

There are a few of these (mostly ad-hoc) filters for performing integer N times upsampling: description here.

Another is: Scale2x.

I'd be curious what Paul's and/or Sophia's clones would look like with one of these. (wink! wink!)

Re: DMJ for iPhone?

Not without a lot of work...iPhone doesn't support Java...without jailbreaking. Then you'd have to find a Java VM to run on it.

There isn't one to my (limited) knowledge. It would require jailbreaking the phone.

Re: Change .dat to xml?

DMJ's .dat files are evil....but: XML is (for virtually all usages) a solution searching for a problem (i.e. 100% hype) . As an example the dungeon defination of DM is roughly 33KB. Using Swoosh to extract into XML the resulting file is roughly 5.5MB. It compresses (with LZMA) down to about 90KB. So...

If the spam is the blue box with "foo" on a line and "a a b" on the second, that was actually me mucking around (thinking about formatting if I get motivated and put the DSA ref stuff I started on the wiki).

A better solution is to keep in a subdirectory and change the 'level pic's directory' in the editor.

Re: Kelly's Addon Pack on OS X

I just downloaded the file without any problems. I used a download manager (FlashGet) to do it. I have better success using a download manager and capping the max down rate.

I've uploaded all the files from Add-On packs: 0.1 and 0.2 here:

You'll need a 7-zip compatiable extractor.

I thought that the title and intro were worth the mention....I'm not really into side-scrollers (so I played about 2m). What's OML?
