Don't forget that most of us playing DM are probably using pirated/illegal copies of the software, and that's probably the main reason that Wayne doesn't want anything to do with queries. After all, he's hardly likely to be happy about any of us asking him questions about 14 year old software that w...

Re: Fires

Francis, are you sure? In my experiments, the palette is fixed per level and only the monsters change colour if you put the wrong coloured monsters on the wrong level. A note about Vexirks - they do change to red when they attack and always have done; that's in the original game and isn't a palette ...

To be fair, there's not much on this web site that needs to be updated - it's pretty much all here. The messge boards are quieter too - I guess there's only so much interest we can have for an old game. Having said that, look out for my new DM website later this year which will be the most comprehen...

Re: Some info on Monster Colours / Palettes

That shouldn't be difficult to do if we can find the colour offsets in the correct files, but neither Dungeon.dat nor Graphics.dat seem willing to give up their secrets. maybe palette info is hardcoded into the EXE? I've messed about with graphics.dat a bit but haven't managed to do anything useful ...

Some info on Monster Colours / Palettes (DM)

I've been messing around with DM and found out some info about the colour palettes used. There are 32 colours used in the game. Imagine this as two rows of 16 colours. The top row is used to draw all the interface elements (Character portraits, hand and spell boxes, inventory and items etc.) and the...

Making stuff go 'click' (DMute)

How do I make things go 'click' within the dungeon when I operate them? I've made a small dungeon with buttons, pads, keyholes, etc. and none of them make the click sound when they are used. Other than that, they do work correctly. Any ideas???

It's an Amiga Hard Disk File, and you need WinUAE to run it. If you're already using WinUAE, then it comes with complete instructions on how to use HD files.
Can you give us the link to the HDF? I have the PC version of DM2 but can't get the sound to work.

If you ZIP up the ADF file and email it to me, I can extract the save game file and send that back to you - you should then be able to use Dmute to mess about with it. ADF files are Amiga Disk File images and unless you have a full Amiga operating system running on your emulator, it's tricky to get ...

It supposedly absorbs the dragon's fireballs - but I've never stood in front of one for long enough to find out! That was the original plan for it anyway - but FTL did not include code for several of the items in the game, and this is one of them. Others include the ruster (level 9 creature) which i...

Looks like I got all the stuff off there just in time....! The DM2 ADFs were in German anyway, and that was one of the few games I couldn't download, so you haven't missed anything. Got a working copy of Amiga Captive from there, though :-)

Where did all the messages go?

What happened to all the recent messages? I'd been looking over this site for the last few weeks, and now everything back to Nov '99 has disappeared except for a couple of messages sent on May 30. What's going on???
