Re: CRPG Addict plays Dungeon Master

I hardly remember Black Crypt, but it left the impression of being extremely difficult. It featured some cool features like monsters being only killable with a certain weapon, or monsters only being visible if you are wearing a certain item. I'd actually like to play it again. I love these ideas! O...

Re: Doors sometimes missing!

Identifying the bug is always a great news! :D I had a nasty feeling, that (if investigation fails) - since GG is no more actively repairing bugs - you`d have to rebuild some parts of the dungeon.. or start it over.. I was thrilled, because I`m waiting for your dungeon to be released! Imagine...

Re: Doors sometimes missing!

I don`t have idea about RTC, but it`s too bad if it`s totally random and not fatal either (no bug pop-ups?). You`ve got to find out some regularities to find out what kind of a bug is this - if any. What kind of doors are missing? Ordinary ones or rather these with custom graphics? With a switch, op...

Non-euclidean geometry in 3D games

like on this example:

A non-euclidean geometry is something that I always liked to see in DM style games without using ordinary teleporters - it would confuse player the most.

256- colour bitmaps in CSBwin? Marvelous! How did you do it, Ras??
Is there a way to update 16- colour bitmaps to 256 colour ones in Conflux? No doubt this game deserves it..

I was thinking of something like this:
The party is marked on a map facing North, South, East, West respectively. The map is always faced North.

ok.. to be honest, I found those Belfast 1928-like vidoes a joke :) A lady would need a base transceiver station to speak a phone! ;) As for the time travelling it`s the physics itself that excludes that kind of things. To travel the time (backwards) you`d have to move faster than light (= that`d re...

Re: Dungeon Monsters

This is very interesting (and ambitious) project! From what I read so far, they want to make this game in a cartridge (this means practically no memory limitations). The game is on cartridge, so it would require nothing but a plain, 64kB Atari. They are making home-made amateur cartridges - it`s not...

Try fitting Dungeon Master onto a single 1.4 MByte floppy and 512K bytes of memory (including the CRT graphics buffer and (essentially) a 4 MHz processor. I thought DM/CSB were first released on Atari ST on 720 kB DD floppy and required buying additional 512 kB RAM (with standard Atari 0.5 Mb it gi...

Re: Dungeon Master 2

Building a dungeon on DM2 engine wouldn`t be a bad idea, but you`d have to enlarge the database (1024 actuators so far...). It`s not impossible, since Paul did this with CSBwin, but it`s still a serious technical problem in DM2 engine. You`d need to understand the code first, though (Bit is currentl...

Note there are little differences between some DM and CSBs actions ( http://dmweb.free.fr/?q=node/690 ). While in DM warcrying gives you the "influence" (priest skill) - just like blow horn action does - in CSB it was modified (gives "parry" - priest skill - instead of "infl...

Re: Conflux III discussion thread - potential spoilers

Basing on heavily modified ASCII dump file I made "plain" maps for Conflux (I think that was 3.0 version - I`m not sure). I made them mostly for myself, but thought that can be used by others, too. The idea was that the player gets completely plain, binary (0/1) maps, print them and mark b...

Well, I didn`t like EOB2 and EOB3 as much as EOB1. This applies to DM2, too. DM1 and CSB were much better IMO. Continuations are sometimes worse than the original. Kes, if you want to play EOB2, there`s a special clone on the way ( http://www.dungeon-master.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=28626 )...
