Re: Greetings Dm fans!

<t>Only 15!!! I actually feel old at 24! I had it in my mind that the regulars here were older than me, dunno why. Maybe we should have a person profile page or something. I finished DM when I was 8 on the Atari to the disbelief of my family. I used to get up at seven in the morning before school to...

Re: BLOODY Scorpion

The best spells to use are the poison bolt and poison cloud. If you get cornered by a scorpion, hit it with a high power poison cloud. This will cause it to back away maybe leaving you enough time to rally. The best weapon that you can use is something that thrusts, ie the delta or rapier. You shoul...

Re: Race to Fusion

1st game reincarnated (so renamed, no levels and lower stats, NB in the original Dm the stats stayed about the same; the lowering is due to the CSB format). Second game ressurected, Gando, who actually had about the same health as as the reincarnated character anyway!

Re: Race to Fusion

Amber: end levels are very much dependant on the time taken, I have discovered. Gando ended up journeyman ninja and craftsman in the other three arts, paradoxically weaker than when I used a reincarnated character. As you will see from my games I don't use much magic at all, only against wasps and g...

Re: Race to Fusion

I've had about 20 goes with a one in ten success ratio (ie killed chaos) which has resulted in the above two times. It is taking risks that seems to get you into trouble... 'I'll just dodge that rat...' and 10 seconds later your dead. I'd recommend that people try and just get through playing conser...

I have heard rumours that it attracts Chaos when worn. At present there is no way of confirming this so you'll have to experiment.

Re: Race to Fusion

Just had another go, this time with Gando but resurrected. Time, to be verified, at just under 1hour and 4mins. Would have been better if I hadn't forgotten the last Ra key in the knights and had to go back and get it! Moves should be better, but not looked yet.

Re: Race to Fusion

Glad its not just me then who dies like this! Rusters were originally designed to 'rust' your weapons if you attacked them but the effect was never programmed. I am sure the hour can be done but you need a lot of luck, not just speed. Examples are the positions of the worms which can save you maybe ...

Re: Race to Fusion

Are there any others out there having a go at this? If its just me and Ant, then I think I will stop trying as hard as I have been doing... By now I can compile a list of amusing ways to die as I think have have done them all. Like my last go... I was right at the end of the loops and 50 minutes had...

Re: Race to Fusion

Cheers Ant. Yep I resurrected (not reincarnated, so he was much weaker) Hawk, who in my opinion is the best person to start with. I reckon if we combined my first half of the game with your last half it would be unbeatable!

Re: Race to Fusion

Paul, Thanks for sorting it out. I guess you learned a few time saving tricks in the early levels by watching my game, but you'll probably agree I made a hash of the lower levels so there is scope to knock a lot of time off the record. I am planning to have a go with Gothmog as himself, I think it i...

Re: Race to Fusion

I am glad you got it! Just had another go, absolutely flawless, I had just about completed the scorpions when I got cornered and killed with just 17655 on the clock (50mins). It would have beat my last effort by at least 20 mins. Ah well, there is always tomorrow...

Re: Race to Fusion

A few notes on my record attempt... subject to verification by Paul Stevens. One man reincarnated, started as Hawk. Did NOT kill dragon, but did in one complete go rather than saving as mentioned above. Time counter was 33674, moves 13844. Looking back, I made some horrendous mistakes in the Rats an...

Re: Race to Fusion

I have just completed the game, one man reincarnated in 33000 ticks, which is just over an hour and a half. Also 13700 moves. What do I do with the playfile log file? Do I post the whole game to Paul Stevens or just the files? Anyway, it is ready and waiting...

Re: Race to Fusion

Drop the knight down the pit? Of course! Can't believe I didn't think of that. I had actually gone and got the Diamond edge which wasted a lot of time but it hardly made a dent in the knights armour. Who do you think is the best character to do this with? I am going for Hawk because he still has res...

Re: Race to Fusion

I am in despair! I thought I was well on the way to a new record using a reincarnated character (Hawk to start with) as I was at the worms in 5000 ticks (about 14 mins) and in the cavern after 16000. Then I realised that I hadn't played the actual original DM for a couple of years and got lost in th...

Re: [Custom Dungeon] [The Tomb of the Firestaff] Feedback

<t>The torch is fine on my set up, in fact I am wondering around the 'introduction' with it using Halk. I don't know why you are having so many problems I guess it is pretty frustrating. Are you using V3.4 of DM? Don't know if earlier versions make any difference but 3.4 is certainly the last releas...

Re: Race to Fusion

I just watched Antman's record attempt. Very fast once the boots of speed were put on, but... excuse me if my eyes decieved me... I never saw the Dragon actually die! Or if he did it certainly didn't take much to kill him! I must have blinked...

Re: [Custom Dungeon] [The Tomb of the Firestaff] Feedback

<t>The torch SHOULD be ok, as I only used the ones that were in the original dungeon therefore didn't hex edit any torch holders (ie to get them to toggle) so there can't be a problem there. As has been demonstrated before, freezes seem to occur on certain machines, and not others which seems to be ...

Damage with weapons.

I mentioned this in a reply to the survey in this forum, but I wondered what the maximum amount of damage you have inflicted with a weapon? I hit an Oitu for 386 when I berzerked it with the Inquisitor which I was pretty pleased with. The character had about 70 Strength. Also I have hit a knight for...

Re: Race to Fusion

Could we split this into two contests: fastest reincarnated and fastest ressurected games? Many years back I challenged my brother to a fastest game, one man, contest and completed it in 1hr 46 mins using Leif! I am sure I could get close with a reincarnated character but in CSB4win they are weaker ...

1: Diamond Edge (great against the knights, esp. stab option) 2: Hardcleave (better than the Inquisitor, prefer to chop most monsters than thrust) 3: Sometimes (if I don't have a bomb there instead!) 4: Fury (when it's gone, it's gone!) 5: Dragon Steak, drumstick, cheese, bread, screamer slice, corn...

Re: Alternate dungeons!

There does not seem to be many people at all commenting on these alternate dungeons, which is a shame as a lot of hard work seems to have gone into designing them. If more people post reviews then hopefully more people will design new dungeons and not be put off by what seems to be a lack of interes...
