Re: New experiences with an old game...DM

FUL GOR does indeed make Ful bombs. But only in a very early build of the game. It was removed for game balance because you can use up all your flasks. Which is strange, as they should also have removed ZO VEN for the same reason. Aha! I was absolutely positive I had done that before. I lost (what ...

Welcome Drake Blue. I was also scarred and traumatized by CSB as a child. It wasn't until I joined these forums in '09 that I went back and beat Chaos for the second time . Well worth the wait! Traumatized as a child? So that's why you wear that 'cloak of darkness' on your avatar. Drake Blue...

I looked up Ishar on UTube. I've never played it, but it looks like a young girl with pink hair, along with a bunny rabbit, are the main characters? Naah. I watched a bit of the gameplay. Must be a couple of different ones. The one above? I don't think I'd enjoy that one all that much.

Just realized there was a 'diminish' option, while using the glowing hands. And it does work from the second row. I've jumped in every hole I can think is possible. Still, no water running. I must have missed something. One of my discovered spells yields a short-lived Vorpal Blade, or whatever it is...

I saved all the chests again, the last time I played through. I believe it was the 3-D version I found on here. I hate leaving things behind. And I never use a bomb (poison or fire). Just leave them sitting on the floor near the fountain on the rat level. I believe I asked about making a poison bomb...

Hello, thought I'd finally say hello. I first found this place at least 15 years ago when I first revisited DM... and finally finished it. Only took me 15 years. I've been struggling through CSB for the last few weeks (or 30 years depending on how you measure it) so I've come back again. We had an ...

I don't use much mail. Armour of lyte, yeah. I usually get the boots of speed (only use one or two characters, so don't have to wait until all four pair can be grabbed. I always grab the Darc armor, I guess to be able to look at it in a tidy pile? Too heavy. Toward the end, perhaps it is usable? Hey...

I simply can not let this one pass. Well done, Journeyman.
I'm still laughing, as I visualize a person cutting small pieces of a VHS tape, then carefully adhering them to a DVD disc. Perhaps Blu-Ray???

Bought it to play VHS tapes on a DVD player I picked up. How does that work!? Ha. Got me there. And the Journeyman wasn't far behind. (I do prefer Super Glue, as opposed to tape. Tape leaves a residue. ) I purchased the monitor to be able to play VHS tapes (which also seem to have now become...

Ameena said, "Hehe yeah, MMVI is my favourite too - it's so big and admittedly is the one with the most exploits that I know of ;). Out of VII and VIII I think I might like VIII better, though it is surprisingly short. But you get a wider variety of playable races, some of which (and one in par...

Oh, one other thing. Keep the daggers. They aren't just useful as thrown weapons, but they are the best melee weapon for working on ninja skills and you get two at the very start of the game on level 2 (and a couple more later). Equip your weakest champions with daggers and have them melee screamer...

I've never heard of Turok. First monitor I ever bought was a Commodore 64. Bought it to play VHS tapes on a DVD player I picked up.
I don't believe I ever bought an N64. Was Mario Cart one of the games that supported?

Thanks Erik and Paul. I purchased all the Might and Magic group from GOG.COM a few years back. Might and Magic six is probably my favorite (are you seeing this Ameena?), but Might and Magic seven is a very close second. I played EOB (don't recall which two I played) ages ago, it seems. The one that ...

I am glad you set this game up to allow a person to 'hide' a second champion behind the initial champion, while building up the second's numbers.
It keeps me from having to constantly restart, which is one of the small difficulties that come when adding members to the party.

EOB2 was very good, but Black Crypt is the one that stands out. Great graphics for the time. Bane of the Cosmic Forge (Wizardry 6) is probably my favourite - gameplay was phased with battles, but great story and loads of items. I have replayed it many times, and still haven't found all the weapons!...

I did finally find a third ladder. The thief/scoundrels seem a bit stronger here. They must be a poor bunch, since they don't seem to leave any coins. Cheapskates! I guess I need to be sure of something here.

I had a bomb saved earlier. I just found a second one, so I tried it on one of those columns and they started breaking.
These breakable rocks? Do you have to use a bomb to get them started, or can a spiked club eventually destroy them?

Yes. I've broken a number of walls down. I'm still curious as to the purpose of the round, light switch. The only purpose I've found is to get you out of a small room. I tend to walk around caverns, hitting every section of wall with a spiked club. If the wall takes damage, I realize the wall will e...

I also jumped into a hole that allowed me to go up a second ladder to the outside. I'm fairly sure I jumped in every hole there, f...

Planks. Now that's something I haven't found a place for any reason, so far. I thought they might have something to do with that piece of machinery in the first cave. Looks like something that might belong on a ship galley for taking up slack on a large rope.

I watched series 1-4 when it first aired in the UK. It's enjoyable "upstairs/downstairs" stuff, although the relationship between the family and the staff would never have been like that in reality. But like a lot of these series, it went on far too long in my opinion and I got bored of i...

I was able to figure out how to sharpen things. Looks like the weapons remain usable, even after the 25 or 50 swing usage. I figure they simply get less efficient after you get to zero, right? Also figured out the 'cook them early on the campfire' necessity. I finally decided to pick Saros. He had a...
