I think I got a simple but efficient idea how to improve monsters' behaviour in regard to fake walls. Currently every fake wall has a single flag whether it is permeable for monsters. To actually have monsters individually react to individual fake walls would need loads of flags for either monsters or fake walls. But you can achieve almost the same effect, by leaving the 1 flag for each individual fake wall as it is and adding 1 single flag for every monster that determines, whether that individual monster has witnessed something passing through a fake wall or not. A monster may only pass a wall, if both the wall's and the monster's flag are set.

Also it is important to have wall or monster flags set not only when the party passes through a fake wall, but also if missiles/spells or other monsters pass through, lest the dragons infesting the illusionary wall maze in CSB will be sitting ducks.
Parting is all we know from Heaven, and all we need of hell.
