DM Forum's Interactive Gamebook from 2007

Post by Gambit37 »

Back in 2007, we, the forum regulars, made a fun interactive gamebook style adventure, based on Dungeon Master.
To find out more, see this old thread: http://dungeon-master.com/forum/viewtop ... =2&t=27365

Play the adventure yourself using this link, but please note it's not quite complete as the last 10 entries were not created.

I thought I'd resurrect this for all our newer members. Have fun :-)

Wow, really good! I cannot believe that it actually works, and was implemented!

Of course, all though it's not complete. The last forum entry is #148, and the HTML files only go up to #137. I'll try and finish it some time...

Well, it doesn't finish properly at #137... ask Beo for more clarification ;-)

It was only at 136 (missing 132) before last night.

I beleive it's playable up to those sections, but it then ends at the bottlenecked challenge and stops. Since I know there's active interest to finish, I might try a little harder to get back to this. I did two sections yesterday after all :)

Will do the basics just now and get all the sections up, then do the fun/hard bit and actually go back throgu hthe last sections and add pictures as needed. Gave up yesterday as the apple resized weirdly and without transparency in 137, so I need to fool around with that.

All the sections are up, though the end sections do deserve some piccies so I'll do those at some point!

I remember having a lot of fun writing my parts, even though I tailed off quickly and left it to others. I still think I have a full gamebook in me somewhere, and obviously with Linflas illustrating :-)

I hope you do follow through with it. I'd love to see what kind of creative work would come out of you, and with Linflas' artwork, I'm sure your gamebook would be spectacular.

Wow. I read through this the other night and couldn't remember who wrote what (well, except for the the barbarian's allergy to bats milk (and it's extraction/extortion)).
Great work for posting this in html. I like the design as:
  • The embedded piccies add a nice feel to the page
You really need to squint to see who was the author!
Some original ideas on some old dungeoneering experience

Yeah, for those who don't know there is a subtle name stamp on the right hand at the same level as the number so each section is attributed.

Lol, and so you didn't recall that way after it had died down you wrote a ton of sections around the trolin minecart era that kicked it back in to gear, and got the momentum going for it to finally be finished?
