Just a personal request...

Post by Lord_BoNes »

Just a request to all those who edit RTC...

I know that many people may not agree, but for anyone who is willing to share their dungeon source txt files, I'd be extremely grateful. Also, if the person decides to post it here, then everyone gets a stab at figuring out how they did certain things. I'm requesting this in an entirely "developmental" perspective. I'd happily post mine, but I don't have anywhere to upload it (I've added just a few resources) AND most people wouldn't be able to follow it anyways :P

There wasa thread to link to examples of mechanics for anyone to use here:
http://www.dungeon-master.com/forum/vie ... =6&t=25373

Though not many people have taken it up yet.

If you e-mail your files to beowuuf at yahoo dot com we can host it on the forum webspace

The wiki would be the best place for this of course. Not only can people add new functions, others can improve on it.

Create a new page people!

I probably won't share anything from my in-progress dungeons as that will spoil the surprise, but I'm happy to do so after I've released a dungeon and most people have played it.

Hmm, if I have anything from the test dungeon I could share that, I think it's spread over old editions and editors though :(

I have more work in CSBwin, though again that is all half finished and a mess too!

Sorry guys for not replying sooner, the morning after I posted this topic, my housemate decided to hijack my internet for 3 days...

But, me backs now :P

I've seen the various topics floating around the forums.... they're quite basic (no offense intended, I'm regarding this in reference to myself). I REALLY would like to see something that pushes the engine, something that SOMEONE ELSE has come up with.... As stated above, I'm not meaning any offense at all, however, I'm running out of things to learn :P

Have you looked through Sophia's old stuff? I knwo the engne was less robust then, so she pushed the engine pretty hard. There's some great fundamental design stuff there to learn from if you can persuade her to give you the txt file.

Check out conflux under CSBwin. An idea was always to port it to RTC just to see where the gaps where in the engine, or if both engines were now equivalent. Someone tried it, I think they said they got close with the basics, but there are so many layers there.

I don't know if Sophia's been topped!

If you can ever make my stacking armour example work correctly, that would be cool.

I'd really like to see YOUR stuff Lord_bones! :-) You claim to have pushed the engine to severe limits, let's see the evidence! ;-) There's plenty of free places on line that you can upload files... ZShare and RapidShare are a good start, or email the files to myself or Beowuuf.

Actually, I think another topic indicated there is an example dungeon on its way with some cool sounding stuff.

Of all the stuff released so far, Sophia's dungeons certainly pushed RTC by far the most. Unreleased stuff, well, who knows... I know you cannot learn anything from my work in progress, as it is very basic and simple.

I'll always be willing to share, but I'm with Trantor:

and in most parts a lot more work is required in areas that I don't know how to do, so I've been trying to keep it basic, at least until the nuts and bolts are put in.

I second the posting the on the Wiki.
It's not a bug in the program, I've just gone and done something weird.
