Graphisms

Post by Pietrus »

Hello,

I tried the dungeon Dungeon Master RTC

When I was young I used to play Dungeon Master on Atari ST,
I think the graphism were better than the RTC one no ?

In fact when you look at this page :
http://chg96.free.fr/dungeon-master/index.htm

the graphism (atari st screenshot) is better than RTC on PC

it is reality or my imagination ?

what about this ?

thx

It depends what you mean by "better".

Graphics are exactly the same. On your old monitor they looked better because of fuzzy pixels.

In fact, the graphics of RTC are slightly better - if a monster is more than one tile away, it will look "clearer" because of the higher resolution RTC uses. Apart from that, the graphics are exactly the same.

I think the OP is referring to the hard pixels of a fixed 320x200 screen with no anti-aliasing, that's all. Some people prefer that over the smoothing that RTC implements. And also, if you run RTC fullscreen on an LCD, your monitor will also do odd things to the pixels, because the resolution of the game does not match the native resolution of the monitor.

Plus the linked pictures are all tiny, so look better than the full screen experience too :)
