Killing Lord chaos.

Post by terkio »

We all know, one cannot kill Lord chaos in the original Dungeon Master, he must be fused.
I understand, RTC allows dungeons where one can kill him.
In a RTC game, I see that hitting him hard by the sword, shows points damage.
Is this a sign that Lord chaos can be killed ?
I don't remember what happened in the original Dungeon Master, when I firstly tried to kill him.

Original DM registered damage on Lord Chaos too, so isn't a sign of him being vulnerable I'm afraid

Indeed.
I had a very long fight with Lord chaos. He registered hundreds of 30 to 60 damages, he did not fell.
I had 3 dead caracters, Leif survived thrusting with his inquisitor. Leif was full to the brim with strenght and dexterity. Holding under fireshield with Vi potions.
Lord chaos did not fell....

For fun while boosting my DM characters for CSB (and also trying ot get to Archmaster) I would go attack Lord Chaos. I wonder how much total damage I ever did to him...

He'll always appear to take damage, but his hit points to not decrement.

Early versions of RTC had no "invulnerability" flag, and Lord Chaos was always killable. By default he had something like 60000 HP, though.
I think George changed this when someone actually killed him...

He's killable (or at least, he was) in CSB - I did it myself once accidentally when he stepped through a false wall and scared the crap out of me so I panicked and grabbed the nearest object - a Ful Bomb from where I'd been sorting out my inventory just moments before and chucking away all my crap (even though the Ful Ya Pit was all of about ten steps away around a corner or two). It hit him and insta-killed him. I was pleasantly surprised :D. But that's probably an RTC thing - I don't expect you'd get the same result in, say, CSBWin or whatever ;).

Lord Chaos registered some 20 000 damage by the sword, more from Ful Ir, Oh Kath Ra, Des Ven.
Too bad there is no way to know the health of monsters in DM.

I think , to reach the game ending, he is supposed to be fused in the new custom RTC "dungeons matter" by Ouch.
So, I gave up, I quit this long useless fight.

It is easy to scare him out of the way. Same as in the original CSB where he hangs around the Ya pit.
