CSB Gor Coin

Post by Simon »

I know a few of you guys have this, but I've been searching ebay for three months now and I have yet to see a single copy of CSB including the coin in the UK or europe.

I've seen probably about 6 copies of the game in total, in various stages of completion. There was one Japanese copy that included the Japanese coin, but the price was ludicrous (like 100 euros) and shipping on top of that was insane.

I just wanted to vent my frustration in obtaining one of these!

Well, I'm glad I've still got mine then, if they're that rare ;). I've also got the paper "map" that presumably came with the game as well. if we have another RL London forum meet, I'll bring it along again and show you ;).

I just recently found my old DM/CSB boxes and I still have the gor coin in excellent condition. I don't remember it being in a small bag but I might have put it in one to preserve it. I'm not sure about the first post here and I just joined with all of the news about Legend Of Grimrock but I guess I'm wondering how rare this gor coin is? I didn't see any on ebay but the one site has pictures of the n american coin and the japanese coin. I have the n american one.

I'm still trying to find the picture map that went along with CSB.

It's been months and still not seen a single coin on ebay! Been looking every day and set up alerts.

Very sad :(

It's not 'rare' per se, as a lot of them were made. It would be more accurate to say it's 'hard to find' -- but even then, I've bought several off eBay over the years so I don't think it should be that hard to get one. You may just have to be patient. Setup a search for DM stuff on eBay and have it send you an alert twice a week.

Yeah, I literally did that, plus I do a bunch of manual searches every couple of days :)

There are a few copies of the game but they never have the coin included.

The hunt goes on! (Maybe you bought them all, you treasure hoarding giggler)

Yeah, the CSBs that come up usually don't have the coin -- I guess it's the first thing to go missing :-(

Hey everyone.
I'm selling my gor coin. If interested, check my auction at German ebay following the link below:
http://www.ebay.de/itm/Dungeon-Master-M ... 3f1e5631f8

Or search for Dungeon Master Münze Gor Coin at German ebay.

Cheers

Still on the look out, it seems that most of the coins have been lost by people who own old copies of the game.

I'm not even sure exactly what box the coin comes with.

good luck, I hope you find it, it looks like it must be incredibly hard considering how long you've been at it. I remember my box came with a gor coin, I'm not sure if I still have it or not, if I do it's probably packed away somewhere after a move and never got unpacked.

Hard to find but I imagine it has sentimental value to about 10 people in the entire world, those of us on this forum who grew up with the game :)

Then I'd be one of the 10. DM and CSB were 2 of my favorite Amiga games. :)

absolutely SU..they were the best games at the time. i loved my Amiga, then Eye of Beholder came out in PC only, so i jumped ship, ditched my three Amigas. i still have my coin too. there may have been a lot made, but there are not many left, lost with all the other worthless tokens and slugs. i value mine. but Amiga was decades ago???

EoB was ported to the Amiga, as was EoB2, I know, cause I played both on my Amiga, and had hours of fun playing them. IMO the Amiga version was far superior to the PC version, which had only limited sound and no monster sound effects, whereas the Amiga version had monster footstep sounds, much like DM.

I played EOB on the amiga, but played the sequel on the PC. The sequel was also very good I found.

I'm not really even sure why I want the coin, I just think it'd be a cool reminder.

ok, the message above was for gor coin, somehow it got moved about and posted with the wrong heading, i have my topic reply messages that indicate this. not sure how it happened. i fix

i do prize my GOR coin too. as much as i've been told there are thousands out there, so far, i only know a few who have one left. was it made of brass, what the heck is it made of? it's not easy to clean and shine up, i'm holding mine right now. what is the marking on the bottom below the word face? it's a circle that turns into a dain. on the other side of the coin above the word GOR there is another marking, not sure what it is, when under the magnifying glass it looks like two Hs H-H or something like it. i'd like to know what it is. where was this coin made, in England? kinda looks like a pence

I remember reading that post, I think it may have been moved by accident when all the off topic posts were moved, as I think it was in the middle of them.

As for my own gor coin, I'm hoping I can track it down. I have a box of collectables somewhere in my house and I'm hoping I put it in there. I'll have to take a look when I have the time for this sort of thing.

That's a good song.

If you like Chaos theory, I'll post a little video I found that gives a brief intro to it that you might like, but to avoid hijacking Simon's gor coin thread I'll post it over in the cool stuff thread.

yeah, i just watched it, fractals are chaos, nature is unpredictable, there is no true number on it. i love the fact that the coin has chaos on it, that a coin has two sides giving it unpredictable nature of the toss. maybe it's why we have gambling addicts, all because of chaos, they think they can beat the odds of 50/50. glad I didn't lose my coin, it means a bunch. it could be worth a lot in the future. sorry Simon, if i find another i'll let ya know.

hehehe, i've yet to meet a person who even knows the old game DM, they've no clue what it is, so your chances of finding one of those coins seems dim to me :( i am wishing you all the luck. i managed to keep mine, it got lost in a coin container, now present on the computer desk sitting beside a couple of special cookies.
