Crystal Dragon sticks out as my second best DM clone, Black Crypt was tough but a lot of fun.

I never played any of those games, and other then Black Crypt, I've never heard of any of them either.

Some of my favorite DM-like games (and some not so DM-like) from the Amiga were:

Eye of the Beholder
Wizardry: Bane of the Cosmic Forge
Champions of Krynn
Death Knights of Krynn
Dragon Wars

I'll definitely try the 3 games Z5D posted about, as I'll probably like them...

I'd definitely recommend the 2 Krynn games, actually there's also a 3rd one, Dark Queen of Krynn, but I never played that one.

I'll check out Crystal Dragon, probably in adf format on WinUAE.

It's based on the AD&D 2nd Edition rules, and is set in the land of the Dragonlance novels. As for gameplay it has several phases of gameplay. When traveling, you move around on a map of the area, while traveling on the map, you may randomly encounter traders, or monsters. If you reach a location (ie town, fort, temple, etc) you go to a 1st person view, similar to DM. As you wander around, you may encounter random monsters, or fixed monster encounters (tied to a particular location). Whether traveling on the map, or in a town/dungeon, whenever you encounter monsters and a battle starts, you go to a battle screen, which is a top-down view, and battle progresses in turns, much like a pen and paper AD&D game would, with each character and monster taking a turn in acting, which can be to attack, cast a spell, or use an item, bandage an unconscious party member (which stops them from dying so they'll wake up after the battle's over) or do nothing.

Here's some screenshots:

EDIT: I just noticed, whoever took that screenshot middle left, must have been a big fan of the Blues Brothers -- all the party members are named after characters from the movie.

EDIT2: I fixed the images that were being blocked, lost the "blues brothers" image though. You can see more images and a description here: http://www.old-games.com/download/3967/ ... s-of-krynn

Most of the screenshots don't work because the site you're linking from (www.old-games.com) is blocking hotlinking. They'll show up for you because they're in your cache but nobody else can see them.
