[RTC] The legend of the Nine Worlds (work in progress)

Post by Adamski »

I am working on the last chapter of the story started with Tower of Champions. Unluckily the early dungeon was too messy so I decided to rebuild it. I wouldn't like to meet the same problems (freezes) found in the first versions of ToC.
The dungeon will be CSB-like style, nonlinear and harder than ToC. All the pending questions of ToC will be answered and there will be many endings. It needs a lot of time because I want to draw new monsters and characters.
If you have some suggestion or request, feel free to tell me, expecially who played ToC and would like to see remarkable improvements.

I am really excited for this dungeon, Tower of Champions was a very fun dungeon. A sugeestion for improving the dungeon style would be to create items that are used not in the area they are found. Tower of Champions had a lot of items that were used in the specific area where they were found, which made some puzzles easier than they needed to be.

Good luck with creating this dungeon.

Thank you lbk
In ToC the problem is that many objects are linked with specific mechanics (i.e. the spin gems) that can't be extended in the whole dungeon, it would be too heavy. By the way, in the next chapter the gems will return with new and harder puzzles :)

Harder than ToC!! Oh my. I still haven't finished ToC, it's way too clever for my simple mind! ;) Great news on a new dungeon though, I'm sure it will be astounding.

i have to agree, ToC is hard. and Adamski, your next dungeon is going to be harder... i'm not sure if that is good or not. lame brains like me can hack and slash easily enough, but those twisted puzzles can hold a player back for a long time. you have amazingly hard puzzles Adamski

Does it include a Fiend of Nine Worlds? Or have I been playing too much Wizardry 7 lately?
Anyway, good to hear about a new upcoming dungeon! :)

I am really excited about another Adamski production!!. Hard is fine if the clues and hints work. A resource and hint guide would make the process more independant. Right now the ToC game is a little herky jerky because the clues and hints are so well hidden that one is required to stop and consult the spoiler page to get help through some of the roadblocks. None of us are geniuses (except adamski, of course). I cannot find the link to the latest version of upside down.

I look forward to scrambling through yet another Adamski dungeon! Love the work on Upside-Down. And, Underworld Dreams looks great. Can't wait to see another creation out of that twisted chaotic mind...

I can't wait for this! ToC is the greatest RTC dungeon to date IMHO, and if this is better, we will be in for a real treat.

Making this second chapter is a really hard work, I don't know if the game will be better than ToC... the only certain thing is that it'll have a different structure. I'm trying to recreate the same atmosphere of CSB. Some information:

- The game is a huge, claustrophobic underworld structure without outdoor parts (at least 13 levels)
- It's a non-linear game, CBS style. You must proceed downwards to reach the deepest level, where lies the last secret
- There will be more than one ending (this time a real conclusion!)
- New wallsets, sounds, objects, spells, and monsters (some drawn by myself)
- New puzzles and special quests
- More challenging battles that require different strategies
and...
Spoiler
- The remaining treasure rooms (from N to Z)
- Nadir, again... He will reveal his real intention!
- A new level with puzzles based on the spin gems
- Some secret bonus levels
Obviously there will be other surprises

Two years ago I completed 5 levels, some of them before finishing ToC. They have confusing mechanics so I prefer rebuilding the game from 0 to avoid trouble like those of the earlier versions of ToC. The release? probably December 2011.
 Stay tuned!

True. Moreover, the main summer holidays are coming -- not only here -- , so this would be a great time to release (and enjoy) a great new game! :)

I'm working on Underworld Dreams, I'll start with the sequel of ToC when I finish with the mini-dungeon. Actually it isn't so 'mini', the final game will be bigger and better than I thought. Soon I'll post some screens.

The 4 leaf clover mechanics that identify when certain things are present is an interesting mechanism. Something like this given as a scroll or necklace etc. that could indicate the presence of invisible features would help a great deal. That would bring attention to areas that are important to the direction of the game.
