I have updated the list.
Some redundant downloads removed, added German version of Dungeon Master II for PC.

Although I think that the German version was not performed very well, so I prefer the English one.

Actually, I didn't realize you weren't a native speaker. Just capitolized nouns. Though this may be because I was reading too fast...

Hi, I need help (cuz I'm apparently a lunkhead or something...;) getting TQ to run on my pc.
I downloaded the TQ.rar file from the DM Encyclopedia website, and unzipped it with Z-Zip, but I'm not sure what to do next.
I tried dbl-clicked the oggdec.exe file, but a quick mini-dos window opens and closes and I even tried using the Decode.bat file to decode the ogg files to wav files, but that eliminated the .exe file
so, like i said, i need help, cuz i'm a lunkhead... DOH! heheh...
any advice would sure be appreciated because i would like to play the TQ.
thanks.

Mouse cannot be used, because there was no mouse on the original Turbografx console! After some time, you'll get used to play with the keyboard.

Christophe, again, thanks for your help! Much appreciated. I tried as best as I could to adapt to the keyboard, but, man am I having problems - let me explain (please don't, ha!) - I use the up/down/left/right arrows on my laptop, but those simply move the hand cursor over the directional arrows in the game - then, I have to hit the "D" key to activate... unless there's a more efficient way to make the keyboard work, it is a huge task to use the controls in this way, and I'm not sure how I can play it this way. Unlike the DM config file that enables you to setup the keys for instant movement, etc, I cannot find anything of the sort in Magic Setup config. Yikes. Anyways, unless there's something I'm just missing here, thanks again for your help, man.

There are options in the Magic Engine emulator to choose which keys from your keyboard you want to map to the original console controller buttons (up/down/left/right, select button, run button, and buttons 1 to 6). You can also use a gamepad if you have one.

Yeah, I noticed the keyboard mapping thingy, and I HAVE been trying to remap the keys, but it doesn't seem to be working for me... obviously a user error  :?: But I just don't understand it... I mean, the up arrow is set for the up arrow, but it doesn't MOVE me forward, it simply moves the hand cursor up. Etc with the rest of the keys... so, I guess I'm sure how to set the keys for actual movement instead of moving the cursor... I mean, for me to pick up an object, I have to hot the left arrow key a few times until it's on the play screen and then hold it until it's over the object, click the select button, and so on... instead of moving a mouse... I don't think I'll be able to conform to this... let alone deal with monsters kicking my arsh while I'm trying to move that cursor around... YIKES!

I see that the keys that are in blue and that can be mapped are the: arrow keys, the Q,W,E,A,S,D keys and the spacebar and enter key, but I'm not sure how to map them to what I need. I don't have a controller, just my 360 one... sorry for troubling you with this likely simple question/post (damn newbies... heheh;)

It's been years since I played TQ, but if it's anything like the SNES version of DM, you don't move the cursor around the dungeon viewport, it should "snap" to items for picking up, etc. Does it not do this?

thanks for the pointer, Gambit37. i see what you mean, it DOES snap around over the movement arrows (which is still clunky as all heck for actual movement in the dungeon), but when you need to pick up an item in the viewer, it doesn't snap around.

the main thing for me is... (and again, I never played this game on a console, so I'm not use to having to play this way) I can't seem to find a way to push a single button to move forward, a single button to move back, etc... it's push a button for the cursor to move onto a direction arrow, and then push another button to actually make that movement occur. so, basically, i have to push the button to snap to each arrow and then push a button to make the move... if this is the way it works, there's no way I can play the game because it's way into the red zone of my clunk meter. DOH!

On the SNES, you hold down one of the buttons while moving the D pad to control the party movement. I'm sure TQ does the same, otherwise as you rightly say, it would be unplayable. Have you checked all the docs (if there are any?)

Ah, I see... a combo of buttons on the SNES. Hmm, not gonna happen on the PC, at least, I wouldn't be able to adapt to such an extreme of button pushes... while mummies and poisonous thingies are attacking me, while I'm trying to manipulate a "series" of button click to simply move/ Yikes! Hmm, I didn't really see any docs with the TQ stuff. Bummer too, because I wanted to check TQ out. Funny thing is I wonder how everyone else able to play it...?... with a controller I assume.

Reminds me the old good Maniac Mansion (TM) or Zak McKracken (TM) played with keyboard only...

Guys, please don't quote the previous post in full when you're replying to the immediately previous person, it's completely unnecessary. I've edited these out of this thread. Thanks. :-)

And what if I reply without a quote, but meanwhile, someone else replies to the post I was replying to, so that my reply stays bellow that other reply without a proper quote? That would look like a reply to the other reply (when it would actually be a reply to the non-quoted original reply), and that would create a scandalous confusion, and we don't want to confuse anything here, do we? :)

EDIT: Sorry for bringing this OT... again. I just couldn't help myself. There was something deep within me making me to write this. This was not my fault. Sorry. I hope you won't ban me... again...

An edge case. If that happens, then edit your post to include the quote if it's required.

I'm a stickler for this because it adds unnecessary bloat to conversations. One has to read the quote to work out what the replier is replying to, only to discover it's exactly the same content as the last post! It's pointless and annoying. In real life, you don't repeat everything someone just said to you before replying to them.

Anyway, this is in our Rules, see #5. Please play by the rules.

It's handy if not necessary in busier forums, but a nice luxury not to need to do it here!
Was unable to (permenantly) kill off ian_scho (Haynuus), Ameena, oh_brother (Westian), money (Falkor), raixel (Petal) and Lord_Bones (Aurek) in the DM D&D game Time's Champions!

CONGRATULATIONS TO THOSE WHO MADE THE GAME WHAT IT WAS - GREAT!
