how's the RSI people?

Post by beowuuf »

I forgot to ask everyone how their compute-related injuries were...

And happy 3000 hits to the main site too!

I've actually been off work for the last three weeks - signed off by my doctor. But not for RSI.

As a result, I've had plenty of time to rest my hands and wrists... but the temptation to do stuff on my site(s) has been too great and I have continued to work on the computer. Still I've not spent too long on it, so things aren't too bad right now.... fingers crossed (if they'll go!)

Some advice I've gotten for CTS (carpal tunnel syndrome) was to get a CTS brace (got it at shoppers drugmart) it's just a hard foam brace with velcro straps that prevents your wrist from moving and that help a bunch.

The other thing was when I wanted to use the computer without it (sometimes it can get in the way) to use the tablet (I have a graphire wacom tablet) or a pen mouse (my Dad has one of these it's held like a pen but has a ball at the tip like a mouse.. it's kinda neat) to keep strain off your wrist.

Both work very well from both preventing CTS and for allowing you to recover from it.

Cheers!
