reincarnation (vs. amiga version)

Post by Mika »

In Amiga version reincarnation slightly dropped stats like
from 75 -> 70 at most, but here (windows) all stats go to 30-40.
Is this the same as Atari version had? Are my stats any higher
eventually when I reincarnate (the actual idea on reinc is that
I guess), or do they just get as high with resurrect here?

I just got out the Atari version and played it on an emulator.
It seems that you are right. CSB for Windows does make the
numbers too small. Hmmmm. I suppose I should try to
fix this. But it messes up the speed playing competition. Those
low numbers make getting started very difficult and those are the
numbers we have been using. Making the numbers larger
should cause all the old records to fall.

Ok. I guess in terms of health/mana you eventually get better
character in this windows game after reinc, but str/dex etc. ,
might be even lower than when resurrecting?

Anyway I've never completed CSB, and I'm currently playing with
resurrected chars, because that's hard enough for me now.

When I played through DM with amiga at the late 80s, I used reinced chars, which I then moved to CSB in amiga -> result was that my chars were so powerful after DM that CSB didn't offer any challenge in fighting. I just grew tired from puzzles.

I found the error. When computing the correction, I was supposed to
divide by eight. I multiplied by eight. Then the minimum came into effect.
And everything got set to about 30.

The fix will be in the next release but that may not be for a while.
If you want this right away, write to me and I will post a new executable
where you can get it.
