Load DM party to CSB

Post by PicturesInTheDark »

Hi guys,

congratulations for the fine adaption and dedicated programming and thank you indeed for bringing back a real classic that haunted me already once for a long time... still annoyed with myself that I sold my Amiga ;)

I was wondering if the load function for the convert of DM characters in the csb utility was planned to be implemented at all (since the upcoming text when I tried it suggested that it might be in the distant future or more likely not even then). Just came to my mind since a party that was built up is more fun when you can play with them through the whole series.

Nota bene: I noticed the discussion about fixes and playtesting about V9.1 and wanted to add that I am willing to offer myself for this task to acknowledge my gratitude to be finally able to play this game again. It might take some time, since I am not in speeding as Paul and Guillaume and I have to refresh my CSB knowledge, but if that is ok with you I will certainly look into it... le me know. (This is, of course, an offer not related to or inertwined with above question and any answer that I may get in response to it!)

Regards

Pitd

I gave two Atari 520St away. :-(

I don't plan to implement the import character function. If anyone
else wants to do the work I will help them and try to fit the result into
my program.

Thanks for the offer to do some playtesting. If another release
is needed, I will remember you. Meanwhile, you can try to break
the current release and if you turn on the recorder then it is generally
easy to make repairs. Without the recording it is nearly impossible.

Playtesting CSB V9.1

Ok, I will do my best; since I'm not a programmer I unfortunately cannot offer you any help, but I'll gladly have a look at the dungeon. Is there a complete list of known problems so far or do I have to search the forum and try it out myself?

I am afraid I don't know what you mean by "list of problems".
The utility functions were not implemented....except for what
was needed to create a new game. That is the only
problem that I know of. Other problems are undoubtedly
hiding in there somewhere waiting to be found.

Ok, fair enough. Just wanted to know if you had anything special in mind by saying trying to break through without recording is nearly impossible. I'll give it a go and let you know. Be patient ;)
