Can a saved game from Conflux III be used in an editor?

Post by isamuu »

Hi. I just started playing Conflux III and it's cool. But I would like to know if the csbgame.dat file I used for it can be edited in CSBuild or any other editor? If so, how? I tried loading it in CSBuild but I get a bunch of errors including one that says "the database appears to be damaged". Basically I want to edit my save game file from CFluxIII.

No, Conflux is encrypted so you cannot view the dungeon.dat nor the saved game. Why do you want to edit the file? If you want to boost your champions, that's not somethign CSBuild can do anyway. If there is an issue, zyx has offered to fix a saved game in the past.

Ahhh I see. Well that's unfortunate, as I simply wanted to have a little fun with the dungeon and get my hands a lil' dirty. I wasn't going to boost my characters to overblown proportions, just tinker with them a bit here and there. Wanted to also place a couple misc items on the floor here and there, just to spice things up a bit. Oh well, thanks for the swift reply. Glad you're online Beo. Good to know you and Gambit are still running this place after so many years hehe :)

I got a few other questions and I'll post 'em when I remember what they are LOL.

OK quick random question...is there hotkey quicksaving in CSBWin? I vaguely remember something like being available for DM PC. If not, how about a hotkey to simply bring up the save game menu?

isamuu, you can try to edit stats(health, health decrease) by memory jacks. I would recommend getting to the items the hard way, though..

Hi zoom. Can you umm, translate that into laymens terms? Not sure what a memory jack is, and don't know what you mean by "getting to the items the hard way".

memory jacks = memory lacks (mistype, he can't remember)

getting items the hard way = play the game! :D

I actually thought "memory jacks" referred to some kind of cheater software, you know, like Action Replay that scans memory...?

That was my initial assumption as well.

beo, 1 out of 2 is not bad...

so to clear that up, sorry for that( ambiguous stuss=balderdash )/ unclarity
jep, that´s memory cheating.. or so I thought.. Gambit you are right !
I was more feeling the word than really knowing 100% what it means or if you can use jack in this context..
that this thing with language...
anyway,
try CHEAT ENGINE(google it)

I am not against cheating,be aware, however:
it is just that if you cheat you make it for the sake of cheating and not for really playing the game.
You want more and more and the game tends to get gradually just a mere hull where you put the things you want into it. Cheating takes over...ultimately destroying gaming experience. Conflux is balanced bad thing to cheat there, imho.

Especially with conflux, where the basic items are just the start - there are so many subtle flavours to many similar items!

Well Conflux III is cool and I want to give it a chance but it's pretty confusing. Once a dungeon starts getting too much into non-linearity territory, I start to lose interest. Hope it's not too non-linear.

It is very non-linear, that's its charm. You can complete the levels in order if you want, but there is no obvious 'go to point 1, then 2, then 3'.

Really, find areas you can progress in liek the cellar, and the main areas above the cellar. There are many little sub-dungeon areas that are self contianed, usually you explore those, then realise there's a big dungeon still awaiting you afterwards.
