Hi guys. I notice that CSBWin allows you to watch movie/replay files from within the game, similar to how it's done in Call of Duty 4 and 5. That is a very cool feature. I would to download some DM "replays" and watch them. Can anyone point me to where I can grab some?

Also, do any other clones contain this feature?

I don't suppose this is possible but I may as well ask anyway....while viewing replay files, is there any way to rewind it? Pause it? Bookmark it for viewing at a later time?

Pause: Hit ESC key.

Rewind: There is no such feature, I'm afraid, but you can simulate "fast forward" with ticking / unticking Quickplay in Misc Menu.

However, there is no way to rewind the movie back, and so on, I'm afraid. I wish Paul Stevens implemented such a feature. *wink wink*

a one of many screen-capture programs on the
market. The resulting AVI (or flash or whatever)
file could be played as an ordinary movie file.

In fact, CSBwin has an option to record a 'movie'
file. Giga-bytes in size because of no compression.

Thanks Jan and Paul. Paul, I do not get any sound during playback. Does my sound card have to be set at a certain Hz rate? I have an ATI 5870 on board soundchip that's running at 24bit 48000Hz.

Another thing Paul: could you see about implementing some sort of bookmarking feature? It would be awesome to be able to bookmark the replays so I could come back to them later and continue watching from where I left off.

It think it runs through DirectX. There is an option on one of the top menus that says 'directx' This should be checked.

Correct me if I'm wrong, the playback movie isn't a actually a film, right? It's actually a set of instructions so that CSBwin can play itself in exactly the same way as the player did at the time (or is that the log file)? And that's why its impossible to have any 'movie' feature, because you still have all the expiring timers, etc that would crash the game if you messed around with the 'playback' in any way.

Yeah, the thing is though, the version of CSBWin that comes with most of the "movies" I grabbed doesn't have the "Volume" tab at the top that lets you enable DirecX. May be I'll see about running the file with the version that DOES have it.

Tell me what movie.....I will record it as
a real "Movie" and you can watch it with RealPlayer
or whatever. With sound, rewind, pause, etc.

Hey Paul. I downloaded a few more "movie" files and I'm trying to figure out how to get sound out of the game. The version of CSBWin that comes with the replay files does not contain a sound option and therefore no option to enable directX for sound. Can you please maybe compile a version of CSBWin that has the sound option and is still compatible with the movie files? I really want to watch these.

That's quite strange. Some of the movies do come with CSBWins where there's no sound option, but then AFAIK sound is always automatically ON. I tried it a few minutes ago. Can you tell me with which particular movies do you have these problems?

(I tried for instance "CSBMovie1 - Paul Stevens (Toadrot) - 11h49m20s", there's no sound option in the menu but the sound works)

Hello and thanks for the reply Jan. OK here are a few facts about my situation....

1)First of all can you please tell me what operating system and sound card you have? I am running the following: Windows 7 Ultimate, AMD 5870, Intel Core i7 950 OC'ed to 4.0Ghz.

2)I normally run my audio through my AMD graphics card to my receiver via HDMI connection. Have never had any issues and no other program has ever failed to deliver sound using this method.

3)Additionally, I also have a Sound Blaster X-Fi card that also works like a charm and is connected to my receiver. With all audio output, I can hear audio from either my AMD 5870 card or my Sound Blaster Card but not both.

4)I have tried running the CSBWin exe programs contained with each movie file from both of my audio devices(AMD and SBlaster) and NEITHER of them delivers any sound what so ever. The original default CsbWin.exe program gives me sound no problem. However, I can't simply use that to play the movie files because every time I try, the movie starts playing and then it crashes with some error saying "timing sequence" or some such nonsense.

I am really curious as to why you're getting sound Jan and I'm not. Really would like to know which sound card device you're using for your audio setup. Really strange and frustrating

I'm afraid I can't tell you much. This is the computer that I use at work. ( ) All I can tell you is that it has Windows XP Professional and most of the hardware is crappy / obsolete but I don't know the details. The sound card definitely is integrated in the motherboard (I even have constant problems with that, I haven't been able to get the microphone working for last two or three years, it's apparently broken because it used to work). Is there an easy few-clicks option in the XP to get the information on the hardware of my computer so that I could generate a list for you?

But I'm very sure that if I can hear the sound on my crappy computer, you should be able to do it on your super-sooper machine too.

Gates' address so you can thank him personally?

Making a new CSBwin that can play those old 'movies'
is quite out of the question. The slightest change in
the executable will cause the movie to fail with a
'Sequence Error'. Furthermore, it is unlikely that the
source code exists for these old versions.

I have a 2 hour 23 minute CSB movie in the form of
a DVD that has the proper sounds. Would you like a copy
of the one I have? Toadrot and Ven.

@Paul... ahh I understand now thank you. That is unfortunate but let me ask you this.....would it be possible to play the old movie files in a Virtual Windows XP environment? Meaning if I run WinXP in a shell or something, would it work? or is it a hardware specific issue? As far as the DVD movie, nah that's OK man, I prefer to watch the real file played from within the game.

On another related note...any other versions of DM have any movie files uploaded besides CSBWin?

It is certainly not a hardware issue. Whether a 'Virtual XP'
environment would work? I have not idea. If you make
it work, let us know.
