New *NOT* CodexDark skin ;)
Hi ! here's a preview of CodexDark skin for DM forums in phpBB3. Any comments/feedbacks/ideas are welcome
I have a css problem with the forum search box, i would like to put it on the right, under the "Mark topics read" line. I modified all the float values for all "search-box" classes i found in the css files but there's no change at all

Re: New CodexDark skin
Cool . I had a thought - maybe the "locked" icon could be a rolled-up scroll (tied with a ribbon or something maybe), to make it more distinctive from the normal post scrolls. Or are those images grabbed from somewhere so you coldn't get one like that? Just a suggestion anyway .

Re: New CodexDark skin
Looking lovely so far
I'd call your skin something else. Codex Dark was supposed to match the Codex website design I had at the time, but since I've now re-designed that, there is no relationship between my site and the forum skin.
Welcome to the wonderful world of CSS. I can take a look at this some time, just not for a couple of days, too much else on.I have a css problem with the forum search box, i would like to put it on the right, under the "Mark topics read" line

@gambit: ok, i'll rename it... errr.. dunno which name actually i keep the search box where it is for the moment and i'll send you the skin at the very end for final adjustments.
@ameena : good idea but there are several icons for locked topics : "locked read", "locked unread", "locked read mine", etc... i'll see what i can do.

Who says naming it has to be logical.
It could just refer to a codex in general, like... a big thick book full of stuff. Like this forum sort of is. And it's dark! So...yeah.

Awesome, want!!
Did you try float:right with the searchbox? Might work or not. If not, it's worth a shot placing it outside the div it might be an. Just wild guesses without looking at the .css actually.
If you end up missing a name, just call it dungeoneer or something.

i have a few images but all css are gone..
it happened when i use a clone.php script with the bad options.. i cloned prosilver *over* CodexDark2 instead of cloning CodexDark2 to another style.
ok. back to the header image and background for now...

Ooops. I highly recommend renaming your files to your theme name and keeping all such things in a self contained folder. What's the clone option? Is that something that comes with the forum?

Re: New *NOT* CodexDark skin ;)
not really. it's a little extra tool in php that clones a style folder and into the forum database, changes theme description in files and so on.
i used it once to clone prosilver to codexdark and another time to clone codexdark to another name. in fact, i *wanted* to make a backup and screwed up everything.. because i forgot to change the parameters in the php program. stupid isn't it ?

Re: New *NOT* CodexDark skin ;)
ok, i have an issue with smilies : first, they suck (but that is just my point of view) and second, their edges are too bright and cannot fit with the background but they aren't included into the style. is there a way to assign another smilies collection to a style in phpbb ?
another issue is the "online" flag : as i modified the filled background with a background image tile, i had to remove it or it would be replicated all over the posts !
anyway, i'm quite close to the end ! any admin to test it on the real forum ?

Re: New *NOT* CodexDark skin ;)
Ooooh, looking lovely! I guess it was quicker to re-create things since you knew what you'd done already...
Those smilies are the default ones and are anti-aliased to a light colour, but on the live site here, Christophe replaced them with the old ones which don't have that problem, so you will be OK when you copy it to here.
Could I make a request for a couple of functional changes? On my original Codex Dark, I modified quite a bit of HTML to make it more usable. One of the things that really helped was to copy the "View New Posts" link from the homepage of the forum so that it's on every page. It really helps use the forum more quickly and I really, really miss it....
Adding a copy of the whole row of those features to the bottom of each page would also be very handy, again, that was something I did on the old skin that we just lost and I really miss those features.
What is the problem with the Online flag? It would be a shame to lose that. I can help you here.

I personally wouldn't miss the online flag, but if it's not much trouble to keep it, I hope you guys can sort it out.

Re: New *NOT* CodexDark skin ;)
gambit, i can send you the skin (please pm your email address) as it is for now and you can make the little tweaks you suggest. there are a few icons i'd like to change, such as "quote" or "edit" and all the PM layout too but that can be done later.
i agree with sophia about the online icon, i wouldn't miss it as well. the best way for me would be to add simply some " [ online ]" text near the author's name in the profile. but if you find a way to have an icon (not that blue horrible thing please ! ), this is better of course.

Re: New *NOT* CodexDark skin ;)
Random thought - for the "FAQ", you could make the icon an image of the Inquisitor .
It's looking pretty cool so far anyway Linflas...I think I like a darker theme for DM rather than a light one like we have atm. It sort of fits better (plus all the DM icons everywhere look cool anyway ).

I think it should be set as the default skin once it's implemented
Re: New *NOT* CodexDark skin ;)
This skin is great. I'm happy to see a dungeony board once again !
BTW: the board for ToME has adopted the old DM board style from a year ago.

Yaay, nice to have a DM-feel skin again...gives the forum its own unique feel to have such a theme to it .
