New DM avatars!

Post by Gambit37 »

A talented chap called Nerdbot over at Angry Meteor created some awesome modernised versions of the DM champions:
http://angrymeteor.com/2012/04/19/hello-again/

I've added these as selectable avatars on the forum. To use them, select your "User Control Panel" under the main logo above.
Then select "Profile" tab -> "Edit" button on the left, then click "Display Gallery" button at the bottom of the main panel.
Select the gallery labelled "DM-2012-Angry-Meteor" to choose a new avatar.

Oh, wow, that's very cool! Mophus looks as if he's on crack and Azizi looks like Jimmy Hendrix! :D No, really, I like all of them, maybe except Wuuf who looks kind of evil.
Finally playing and immensely enjoying the awesome Thimbleweed Park-a-reno!

I think Mophus looks more like he's stoned, and very approachable now. Lost his edge!

I thought Azizi looks like she belongs in a blaxploitation film from the 70s.

LOL. Well, the the DM Encyclopaedia says that "Azizi Johari was the Playboy playmate of the month June 1975. She was the fourth African-American woman to become a Playboy 'Playmate of the Month'." :D I haven't realised this until today.

And looking at the portraits again, I think that Sophi... I mean Chani should visit her hairdresser.

Anyway, as I said, I do like most of the portraits. Alex Ander is my most favourite one!

For some reason Chani's pic instantly reminds me of Chell - must be the face since the hair isn't in a ponytail ;).

Funny, I saw the updated Gando picture and I thought "Hmm..he looks just like Paul Stevens". Then of course I realised that I have absolutely no clue what he looks like in real life. And I was confusing fantasy and reality again. :D

I guess since I had nothing to work with I imagine people look like their avatars (except people like Beo, Gambit, etc. who have non-human avatars). I had not realised that until now!

With a light-brown wig I'd look very much like my avatar, actually.

You arent the only one. I was playing the DM HD release, and was very surprised when Gando wasn't named Paul Stevens when I looked in his mirror. I think I'd also be surprised that Gambit wasn't a skeleton or if I met Beo, id be like "Um wheres your ankh?".
In the same vein, I really don't like the Wuuf pic. And the reason why? Its from the DM D&D game and all the writings I did on bika culture for one of my main NPCs in Beo's game. So when I looked at the pic, I thought "Waaaiit, whats wrong with that bika? He doesnt look right *at all*." Then I though "Oh wait, I made all that stuff about what they look like and act like up.

And cows yes, please do! I loved it when you were doing the portrait-style char pics! Those were great. I would love to be able to drop some of your redone portraits into LoG when that option appears.

Yeah, wuuf looks like a werewolf instead of a cute little doggy! Though of course cows's version is a wolf creature too, much much less scary! :D

Fun fact for Jan - guess which forum I got the idea for my Tower of the Sun character in the West Watch? :)
