Monster death effects depending on how killed

Post by beowuuf »

It would be interesting to have different death effects depending on what damage type killed a creature. For example, you might design a mummy that should be carrying a scroll and a flask. But if there were death options for damage, then you could have:

a) for a death through fire damage, there is a quick flame to nothing animation rather than the smoke one, and the mummy drops the potion and a burnt scroll
b) for blunt damage death, the mummy just disappears as normal, but leaves a broken flask and the scroll.
c) for other death types, the default is a quick unravelling bandages to nothing animation, and the dropping of the scroll and flask

This could be expanded to making monsters react differently. You could have the floor pad triggering a shooter of a specific damage type...so you are carrying a certain sword, a knight that might otherwise be normal might get killed with the shooter instead, and drop a faster more aggressive knight to show he is angry at the party hjaving that object. Similarly, carrying a certain artefect might trigger a shooter killing all creatures in an area and causing them to drop panicking, low morale replacements to show their fear of this object.

Just a thought..
