A sad day indeed
Even though I'd not played many of their games, I know the legacy of awesome games they leave behind. I hope those losing their jobs can find work elsewhere in the industry:

Sad. Monkey Island was great, and I really loved Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. I don't know if this makes a sequel more or less likely.

Re: Lucasarts Closing Down
The reasons behind this were purely money.. Disney suits decided it's easier to make some other company pay them to be allowed to make a starwars game or other sequel. This way there is no money out of their pocket at all.. forget the hundreds of people now out of a job.. and they went ahead and laid off people at ILM and Disney as well to make sure a lot more people are milling around saying.. how will I pay my rent? Really unpleasant..
